It is strange to me because I don't see us in dire straits like the outside of local media is portraying. Do they see we drafted a CB in the first and got a FA who is panning out?

LOL @ the guy that wrote this.

This isn't a "grievous" hit to the Cowboys plans for their defense this year.

Last year? With last year's pass rush? Maybe. But not this year with Carr, Claiborne, Jones, Patmon, and White. Not with this year's pass rush.

It will hurt some but the team's depth in the secondary is very good and Patmon is a hidden gem that the rest of the NFL is going to find out about, IMO.

I would say that this is just a writer who is simply slinging **** against the wall... but that would be an insult to those who sling **** against the wall.

He simply saw Dallas lost Scandrick and thought because of Jerry Jones, he might be right.

To hell with who is actually still there to play CB or the fact that Milliner is down for the count already.

Very shoddy work.

Trading for Dee Milliner is not aggressive, it is a panic move. Trading for FS Eric Weddle is the aggressive move towards fielding a SB defense.

Now we're talking. Really wish we would have draft him.

This is the primary reason I don't take anything the media says as gospel any more. We were deep at CB and are unlikely to fill the loss of OScan from outside the organization. I don't know who Erik Lambert is, but it's clear he didn't get this memo and props to Stash for completely owning him.

Before Scandrick gets hurt: Cowboys could trade from CB depth to upgrade at RB.

After Scandrick gets hurt: Secondary sucks. Better trade for someone NOW! Season in doubt!

Wait, is he seriously available? I know he's pissed about his contract, but is SD shopping him?

Milliner is a CB for the Jets who is still under his rookie deal, not sure who you are thinking of. Eric Weddle maybe?

edit: never mind, just read what you were quoting. I don't think he's available, just think the OP was using that as an example

If the Cowboys feel the need to go after another CB, no doubt in my mind it would be Micah Pellerin, not ee Milliner (see what I did there?)

No, he's not available. It was just a hypothetical.

Got my hopes up for a second. This defense is a playmaking FS away from being really good(If the pass rush turns out like projected).

I guess this writer wasn't aware that Miiliner is hurt yet again and schedule to miss the next two months?

Well other than that it's a great plan lol
You would think a guy who gets paid to write about sports and took the time to write an article with his name on it might have known that
Seems like knowing what's going on with players would be kinda important if you are writing about them

We took Spencer late in the first and Weddle went early 2nd so there wasn't really much of a chance for us to get him.

Cowboys moved up (in trade with Eagles) from 2nd to draft Spencer. Should have stayed put and taken Weddle. Cowboys needed a FS even back then.
