“I can’t imagine a scenario where Tony’s not our quarterback when he’s ready,” Jones said via the MMQB. “But things happen. You know that. You know what happened to Bledsoe and Brady. I’m sure Tony’s aware of that. But the reality is, Tony’s going to come back for us and play great, we believe.”

“I don’t think our guys would even consider trading Prescott for Lynch right now,” said Jones. “No, I know they wouldn’t. That’s how much they like Dak right now.”

We've all seen how impressively Prescott handles himself on the field but just haven't been privy to see how well he conducts himself in terms of relating to his teammates. It means plenty to his teammates to really like and relate to their leader. The more we hear about Dak and how well he's liked and respected by those around him is extremely encouraging to say the least. I do believe we've got a keeper here, folks!

Well he's right... anything can happen. I wouldn't compare it to Bledsoe and Brady, as the truth is Brady didn't play all *that* great in relief, he just fit BB's system better and was his preferred type of quarterback. Bledsoe was also always wildly overrated and wasn't good anymore.
For Dak to keep the job he is basically going to have to be more like the craziest fluke in NFL history: Kurt Warner. So adapting Kurt's unbelievable 1999 to modern times... if Dak throws for 50 TD, 5000 yards and wins league MVP and Super Bowl MVP, then yes Romo will not get his job back.

Dak looks to have a bright future, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he struggles. I expect it.

But this is the PERFECT team for a young QB to handle this. Tremendous offensive line, tremendous running game, an elite back, an elite receiver, and a still elite tight end. Plus, Dak seems to have good chemistry with Beasley already.

Dak doesn't have to do much. Just be efficient and smart with the ball.

Even if Dak was playing like crap compared to Lynch, I doubt he would come out and say ....Of course we would trade Dak for Lynch right now.

As far as the Bledsoe thing...someone probably asked him about it since Dak recently has said that he has become a starter in each level after an injury to the current starter. I don't think Stephen is saying he wants or does not want one way or the other...just commenting on the possibilities in the future.

However since this is Dallas...it will probably be taken out of context and different sides will come to the conclusion that this is Stephens way of saying...

Dak is the future starter even if Tony comes back healthy

or

No matter how good Dak is during Tony's absence...Tony will still take the starters job when he is healthy.

Each side can use him to justify their stance on either side of that possible argument when Stephen was just being open to any possibility.

Also the press will use this to generate a story and click bait...soon, if Dak does well, it will be a QB quandary and or QB fight in Dallas.

That's my worry...is the rookie comes out and he throws a pic six and a stripped fumble and its 14-0 before I'm done with my first beer.

That's pretty crazy that they came out and said that about Lynch and made the Bledsoe vs Brady comparison.

I want to know if they would trade Dak for Wentz or Goff.
Nope.

And i thought Dak was better than Wentz before the draft and thought Goff was the best qb.

I think he will be efficient,he generally is risk averse even in college but i can live with rookie mistakes.

We still have some tickets and luxury seats to sell and it would be a lot easier if folks believe they will see Tony at some point..

Tickets are all sold and accounted for and paid by may 1st.

The problem here isn't what Stephen Jones said, its that he and his dad say anything at all. Just let the coach handle it or only repeat what the coach says.

otherwise you give the media something to speculate about or try and figure out what you meant....there are 32 teams all anyone talks about is the cowboys, why these guys cant just shut up I will never understand.

Players, even starters, lose their jobs due to injury sometimes. Jones mentioned a precedent associated with the fact. He points out the real possibility of Romo returning to the starting lineup, which also happens in football after a player is injured.

The front office wanted to trade back into the first round to get Paxton Lynch. Denver beat them to the punch. They may have wanted Prescott later but Lynch was their first quarterback target. Now, they believe their better choice was Prescott after-the-fact.

Neither one of his comments are a big deal. If he snores, Jones should be grateful that doesn't get unnecessarily critiqued as well.

That's shots-fired in Stephen-speak.

If nothing else, the start of this season is going to be interesting. If you noticed in Dak's locker-room presser, he said "this happened a lot quicker than anybody expected." He went on to say all the right things, but his mindset is obviously that this is his chance to take over for good. Stephen just officially opened that door if Dak goes on to play great. It's a good problem to have, but, man, do I feel bad for Tony. It's a tough position for a fan rooting for the new guy to be so good it puts a favorite player out to pasture prematurely.
