That's pretty crazy that they came out and said that about Lynch and made the Bledsoe vs Brady comparison.

I want to know if they would trade Dak for Wentz or Goff.
I'm in the camp that thinks they wouldn't have used the 4th overall pick on either of them even if they did fall the 2-3 spots. And I feel sure they were not trying to trade up.

I guess if they dropped way down bottom 3rd of the 1st round, they'd have tried to trade up.
No way that was happening, as we knew pre draft.

So, that's probably why he used Lynch as the example...b/c they did try to come up from 34 to get him.

Just my take, catch.

The Cowboys struck gold this past draft. Dak with this O-line and without Zeke is good. I truly believe that Dallas can start the season at least 3-1. Dak, this O-line and Zeke might just go 4-0 and 6-2. Take your time Tony, go to Europe, and get well.

I'm with you here.

My biggest concern going forward is does the staff have the ability to get this guy ready?

Every indication is that they have not been up to now..

there has been a parade of players at QBs none of whom have been serviceable.

Remember..Garrett and the team told us Brandon Wedded was the answer.

Not.

And everybody brought in under Garrett has gone belly up.

So I pray DAK is our guy..I still see us going 8-8 or worst.

The staff is going to cling to Romo returning and we are going all be split about Romo being given another chance under Jerrah.

Hope DAK just lights up so Romo can be our backup for the next couple of years and let him retire healthy.

Romo as a backup would be awesome.

It's what needs to happen.

True, those backups before Dak came into the picture couldn't get it done but there's a new sheriff in town and his name is Dak. I think he has much more to offer than either Weeden or Cassel did back then but granted, it remains to be seen how far he can take the team.

I can't help but doubt that Tony would be amenable to serving as a backup, however -- he'd want to take charge at QB no matter what. I seriously doubt Tony will be able to last long enough to do much good, however, even if he's able to come back as the starter.

What will probably happen is that he'll play until he's hurt again and then Dak will take over for good. It remains to be seen if he'd then be Dak's backup. Anyhow, we'll see what happens. Let's hope Dak finds success, because I expect he'll almost certainly end up being our starter again a second time sooner than many of us might expect.

Dak looks to have a bright future, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he struggles. I expect it.

But this is the PERFECT team for a young QB to handle this. Tremendous offensive line, tremendous running game, an elite back, an elite receiver, and a still elite tight end. Plus, Dak seems to have good chemistry with Beasley already.

Dak doesn't have to do much. Just be efficient and smart with the ball.

a perfect team would have a defense.

just saying.

The schedule does look favorable the first 4 weeks.
I realize that it's very often not what it appears preseason, but I doubt the line is more than 3-4 points one way or the other (and usually near even) for all four games.

I'd put them, in order of increasing difficultly..

Chicago
At San Francisco
New York
At Washington
So anywhere from 0-4 to 4-0 is possible....the later, or close, would be sweet:thumbup:

Of course, then there's Cincy and Green Bay

Its a certainty that Prescott will have ups and downs that must be expected from a raw rookie QB. The club really needs to stiffen up the defense in order to move ahead with Dak. Prescott is probably the road ahead.

That's my worry...is the rookie comes out and he throws a pic six and a stripped fumble and its 14-0 before I'm done with my first beer.

Get another beer and keep watching. Romo played like crap in his first game. Romo didn't turn out too bad.

I think we will have a pretty good idea after game one for what is in the cards for Dak and this team. If it is the same, mundane scheme with no creativity towards his strengths.........look forward to 2017 :(
True.

Either way..I'm glad to have the opportunity to try to establish another QB not named Romo.

Due to the length of the injury..

the team can't be waiting around like last year trying to eek out a win or 2 waiting for Romo to teturn.

They have to pull out all the stops..try to play from the opening gun..

use trick plays where ever needed..

and they can't be waiting for the 4th qt. for Romo to win games.

Now..

we really get to see what Garrett has left.

If not..we go 4-12 again..

we fire Garrett and the staff and draft a QB.

We get a top line coach who will rebuild.

Pretty simple.

Tickets are all sold and accounted for and paid by may 1st.

The problem here isn't what Stephen Jones said, its that he and his dad say anything at all. Just let the coach handle it or only repeat what the coach says.

otherwise you give the media something to speculate about or try and figure out what you meant....there are 32 teams all anyone talks about is the cowboys, why these guys cant just shut up I will never understand.
You realize that owners and gms all across the league give interviews right?

Look, if Dak is winning more than he loses, no way do they pull him for Romo. You can't do that to the players.

If Dak does well, Tony should retire and ride out a hero.

The cowboys will need to look closely at the return on investment (Romo) for this year and next. Tony is paid very highly to sit out 75% of games going forward. That money could help this franchise move forward.

The speed of the game, preparation, and strategy/planning in the regular season will require this team to step up. That means 2nd and 3rd year guys need to step up and not expect a rookie QB to be a savior. I was disappointed last year in the performance of the team (players and coaches), not just the backup qbs. Too high expectations on the rookie is usually not the best approach.

To say no way they pull Dak for Romo is as ridiculous as saying there is no way Dak can keep the job. Dak would most likely have to play incredibly well to take the job, not just win games. The team believes they can win games with Romo, so it's not like putting in Romo would cause a rift on the team. Now if Romo returned and played bad, that could complicate matters.

That's shots-fired in Stephen-speak.

If nothing else, the start of this season is going to be interesting. If you noticed in Dak's locker-room presser, he said "this happened a lot quicker than anybody expected." He went on to say all the right things, but his mindset is obviously that this is his chance to take over for good. Stephen just officially opened that door if Dak goes on to play great. It's a good problem to have, but, man, do I feel bad for Tony. It's a tough position for a fan rooting for the new guy to be so good it puts a favorite player out to pasture prematurely.

I love Tony but he should have been grazing last season. He's a tough, tough guy. He should have been a Hockey player.
