Woo hoo another stats thread.

It's still the offseason and its football so its welcome. Take from it what you will.

I like the stats because it gives us a point from which to begin a conversation. There are interpretations and nuances within the numbers which provide discussion.

Am I the only one in the universe who thinks he will vomit the next time someone number crunches on Tony Romo? The only number I'm concerned with is more wins than losses. Save me "its a team game..blah...blah...blah." He has had some bad teams to work with, he has also had some good teams to work with. In the words of the old Nike advertisements.... just do it.

And as far as I'm concerned, as happy as I am with what Jason Garrett represents in terms of his philosophy of building a team, discipline, character, etc.... I put him in the same boat. Its time to win fellas, plain and simple.
And if this team doesn't win this year, I think we need to get rid of Dez Bryant too. He's been in the league for how long? And the same old result every year -- just missing the playoffs. We can't accept that.

I thought Tony's play dropped last year on the longer pass plays. Not that he's ever been a good long ball thrower, but last year seemed worse,,, maybe it was the back injury?

• Fourth-highest grade in a clean pocket at +24.4.

Is the most telling stat I saw.

It's kind of humorous...

Romo supporters will go to the ends of the earth to find numbers to justify their claims.

Romo haters don't have too far to go to find numbers to back their argument.

Both sides have valid points and not so valid points...

You can cherry pick and analyze Romo until the cows come home, but it doesn't change the fact that while he's statistically the greatest QB this team has ever had, he hasn't been able to lead this team past the divisional round of the playoffs. Great stats, great guy, but hasn't made noise in the post-season and his window is just about shut.

There isn't any reason to believe it was anything other than his back.

Pretty amazing given the Cowboys history at that position.

It is quite impressive...although I'm hoping he can carve out a better legacy for himself than the one he has now (at least in the public eye)

When people think of Roger, they think of Hail Mary

When people think of Troy, they think of his pass to Harper

When people think of Tony, well....

I hope his story has a happy ending (at the risk of sounding corny)

Tony Romo - 34 years old - 12 years in the league - single most important position on a football team
Dez Bryant - 25 years old - 5 years in the league

Great comparision

Pretty much sums it up for me, I'm neither for or against Romo at this point. He has made me a believer in one game any the very next game make me believe we'll never win a super bowl with him. Statistically I think he is great, but then someone ssy the game is skewed for the offense now and Qb's are setting records every year. Regardless he is what he is and IMO the jury is still out on whether he can win the big one or not, he has had bad teams around him but he has also had good teams, so at this point all there is are stats for him, I'd still rather have Eli's rings. ROFLMAO. (A lil blast from the past).

You do know that Dez has great numbers because someone has to throw him the ball, right? I wonder who that is?

Romo is a gift as an UDFA. He isn't perfect or going to be a HOF QB but you can win with him. A lot like Farve or Elway, if he had a running game that helped him not have to be 100% of the offense, or a great defense.

Even Marino and Manning couldn't win with out a running game, not sure how Romo is supposed to if those two couldn't.

Letting Romo go shotgun 60%+ of his snaps is just rolling the dice and lazy (or poor) coaching.

I think even fans of Romo (like me) could see last year that his deep-throwing ability was off. It appeared to me that he altered his throwing motion slightly to compensate for the back issue.

Hopefully, he'll be able to put his whole body back into his throws as I do disagree with you on his long-ball ability. (I do think there are some deep throws he does better than others.)

There are plenty of articles out there to show his deep accuracy but I'll just paste this from his 2011 stats:

Romo’s 55.2 percent completion percentage and 125.4 passer rating on throws of 20-plus yards were both second-best in the NFL.
