I was all set to do a recap of the Jerry Jones Show on The Ticket. It was postponed from 8:30 to 8:50, then he reportedly was on hold and hung up...

They just reported that Jerry has said he now can't do the show today...

Sorry Ed, I really don't know what to say about it. I'll ask tomorrow and see if I can find out anything. As for my own opinion, I see it as just another sign that Parcells is out and the assistants are looking out for their future.

Thanks CaptainAmerica, you see where I am coming from especially in light of Jones looking at the 3-4 with a jaundiced eye. In the press recently he commented about the previous success with the 4-3. It makes you think Parcells pulled the trigger in not wanting to keep Zimmer after 13 years of service. If that is the case you would think he is staying. I hope not.

I could be way off, but Zimmer stated he would have loved to stay with the Cowboys but the lack of contract extension was the writing on the wall. During his exit he did not reference if Jones or Parcells was behing the non-renewal so that makes it more perplexing.

STORY: Bears coach Lovie Smith could make the ultimate power play and work through the remainder of his current contract. He grew up rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, and Sports Illustrated's Peter King reported over the weekend that if Bill Parcells departs, Smith would be at the top of owner Jerry Jones' wish list. Jones isn't afraid to throw money around, either, and might even be willing to give up draft picks to procure Smith.

Why in the world would Lovie leave the bears. He has a phenomenal defense, 2nd only to the Ravens, and is only a qb away from a dominant offense. He would be an idiot to make a lateral move, even to my beloved cowboys.

If Jones inspired why get rid of Zimmer and Parcells?

So, if Jerry has alredy decided to bring in a new Head Coach, there would be no reason to re-up Zimmer, because the new Head Coach would want to hand-pick his Coordinators.

That's true too bulletbob, the new head coach could already be in the wings. Zimmer leaving also could appear that it was a Parcells decision to ice Zimmer and still call it quits after all. That would allow Parcells to save face as earlier noted on another thread.

Zimmer was gone either way. They let him go so fast because they knew his contract was up in 10 days anyway and they had no intention of re-signing him, Bill or otherwise.

Not saying you are necessarily wrong, but in this case you are making the facts fit your theory BB, not the other way around.
