Wow, seriously?Who is he???
He came along about the same time I got interested in football and I knew absolutely nothing about him.
im gonna take A guess here, based on your screen name. Were you a Spurs fan back in the day?Scott Laidlaw became disillusioned with the Cowboys heading into Super Bowl 13 when they decided to put Robert Newhouse back in as the Starting FB returning from his broken leg.He either skipped or threatened to skip a team practice and voiced his displeasure. All of the coverage from Thomas Henderson regarding Terry Bradshaw and the Steelers obscured that.
Laidlaw was a decent role player/rotation guy.Solid Receiver out of the Backfield and decent runner.
He definitely played his best football in 1978 after Newhouse the leg in week 12.Played terrific in the 1978 Playoff Win over Atlanta. He had a history of nagging injuries 1975-1977 and that continued into the 1979 Season when they gave him a chance to be the starter at FB.Newhouse just a better player and a Character Guy that meant more to the Team.
Blaming the Cowboys for how his Career went isn't true. The Team drafted Ron Springs in 1979 and Timmy Newsome in 1980.Both of those guys were versatile players who proved the decision to cut Laidlaw the right move IMHO.
One of the dirty dozen.Who is he???
Ding ding ding.Laidlaw was cut by the Cowboys on August 6th, 1980 and sign by the Giants less than two weeks later. I don't see the controversy.
Before my time. One of the dirty dozen.
No Sir but I watched many games with James Silas and definitely remember his unforgettable late clutch moments.A real shame that injuries shortened his career.im gonna take A guess here, based on your screen name. Were you a Spurs fan back in the day?
With Robert Newhouse,Ron Springs and Timmy Newsome ahead of him on the depth chart at FB it proves Your Point. So I guess they didn't have agents back then?
Was it the Cowboys fault that he carried the ball 5 times for 10 yards that season with the Giants?
Seems like they were trying to do the Giants a favor.
His story seems fishy. The Cowboys were terrified that Laidlaw might be a Giant?
he sure was good late in gamesNo Sir but I watched many games with James Silas and definitely remember his unforgettable late clutch moments.A real shame that injuries shortened his career.
