Hilarious about the contention that OG is not a premium position considering all the maneuvering over the last couple of years to strengthen it.
Guess what when its a weakness that drags down the whole offense THEN IT BECOMES a premium position.
Best way to stop that happening is to spend a 2nd or EARLY 3rd rd pick on as near a sure thing as possible.
Considering how many picks we have used over the years on Guards that have not panned out- and all of them were bottom 3rd or later.
What? One, OG is not a premium position. Two, 'all the maneuvering over the last couple years'? What? The two VFA OGs? The college FA we picked up last season? The signing of the street FA we did this week for a $1.5M base?
We spent the premium picks and cap resources on secondary, OT, C, and DE. We're getting by with shrewd moves and value signings at OG, as we should be. I"m glad everybody's happy about Brian Waters. I'm happy about him too, especially because he's got a track record of staying healthy all season. But it's hilarious that people are debating our OL going from worst-to-near-first with this one 36yo OG signing. This was upgrading a position of relative weakness with a very good aged veteran player, nothing more.
