Dude is as physically gifted as they come but for whatever reason he simply has not showed up this season. I think the offseason crap and the weekly possibility of a suspension coming down is weighing on him. I am starting to believe we won't see him truly show up until that all plays out. Think Zeke in 2017.

You thought wrong. I didn't. Nothing has surprised me about Sam. He's a dumb player and yet another horrific draft pick from a team that always drafts well all of the time because they have Will McClay and thank God for him.

He had too many mental errors in the opportunities he's been given. It is what it is.

When we drafted this guy, I thought we really had a true player on our hands. We heard about the off the field issues, and took a chance. No big deal. Kid is an athlete with talent, they said. A year and a half later to 2023 and pretty much nothing from Sam. Everyone is griping about Mazi Smith. But I've watched the tape, and he's doing what we need him to do: helping to stop the run. Mazi Smith never was going to be flashy...

Sam Williams was supposed to be mini-Micah..A versatile 3-4ish LB who fit DQ's scheme..

4.4 40 yard dash for a guy over 250.

The only problem?

He's been invisible, cept for the preseason fight where he took a cheap shot and punched his teammate in the back of the head. Or that time in preseason when the camera panned to him and he hammed it up, pretending to body slammed an invisible opponent.

Anyone else think Invisible Sam might be trade bait right now?

Not that he's done anything anyone would want to trade for... But I know one thing. He's not contributing to the team, and looks to be sort of a wasted roster spot in 2023.
Do any of you even pay attention to anything that goes on except for your narratives and you just really need to post and complain???

Sam Williams first of all had a severe case of turf toe to start the season ,he tried to play through it ,and it wasn’t working then he got that arrest with the speeding and I believe he got in the doghouse and he’s having a problem getting on the field now because the coaches & his physical availability, that’s why...

I believe he will get past it, the guy reminds me of a tank.... he’s DeMarcus Lawrence possible replacement, he plays like him he’s more of a complete player than Micah Parsons in my opinion can play the run the pass he’s got a good motor he can get sacks but yes there was a problem start the season just like with Steele, Michael Gallup, and we got Jordan Lewis not playimg well... I mean these guys all trying to come back from injury just don’t look the same.

I realize it was not made a big deal publicly, look it up...

It is not an easy thing to play on ,especially for a guy that needs to get off on the line and cut and make moves.

Yeah hopefully whenever Goodell suspends him and gets that all behind him he can refocus and screw his head back on straight. He's an even more talented version of Randy Gregory. Let's just hope he's not an even dumber version of Randy Gregory. Which would be saying a lot!

This is my bet. He can’t plant and take off. He looked great in preseason until that injury.
this is exactly why i don't know why another what happened with SW thread, an Injury lack of practice and coaches slightly put him in a doghouse. lets hope the Bye heals many ills of this team..

Another thread had the highest pressure rate from four players in the NFL.

Parsons, Lawrence, Armstrong, and Fowler were number 1 at 90.91%. Detroit was 2nd at 69%. That's the same difference as between #2 and #12.

Maybe this is why Williams isn't getting the snaps.

Take it for what it's worth but Mike fisher said that there is something going on with him,in and out the locker room but wouldn't elaborate.
I would actually tend to believe that in this case.

There’s something going on. He is literally regressing on the field, when that makes little sense.

He may not turn out to be a stud, but it also felt like he didn’t peak yet.

I mean, you already know you can’t give this guy a second contract…but the team philosophy seems to be to attempt to steal a first round talent in round two.

They need to get over that.

Also he did compare him to Gregory, and that's not a good thing.

Arguably the biggest disappointment for me.

How many snaps is he getting? I noticed he's on the Nascar defense as a DT/inside DE rusher. Is he playing more or less snaps than last year and why? What matters is what DQ thinks. Sam isn't the starter so what is his role, when is he getting snaps and who is he replacing? DLaw and Micah take the majority of DE snaps right, so what does that leave for williams, fowler, etc. it's hard to evaluate a backup with just stats, we need more info. He played ok last year so why the difference?
