I am upgrading phones a couple weeks, I have a blackberry storm at the moment and I am upgrading. I heard the iPhone 5 will be coming out around September so I'm wondering if its worth it to buy an iPhone 4 in May, and the new version comes out a few months later.

Do the iPhones really change that much from version to version? I have Verizon, so the only other elite type of phone they have is the HTC Thunderbolt, similar to the EVO but newer and I cant get an EVO lol

i work for at&t and have had every iphone since '07, i bought the HTC Inspire 2 months ago, which is the equivalent of Verizon's Thunderbolt and Sprint's EVO, and it completely kicks the iphone's ***. Android is better in my opinion because of a wider variety of apps and you can download music for free. i also HATE itunes. If you have owned an iphone, chances are that you've had all your contacts wiped out by one of itunes' updates. Remember also that no iphones out there right now are actually 4G, they are all 3G. If you want my advice try out the android and take advantage of the 30 day return policy, if you dont like it, take it back within 30 days and get the iphone.

I was told that you don't leave your phone on the charger. Only charge it when needed. It ruins the battery. I don't know if it's true of all phones but the HTC Hero I had terrible battery life.

yeah usually you have to let it drain right down

problem is the phone really drain when you use the data/text etc

I have a BB Torch and the battery is good maybe for a day, once I had to charge twice in a day given the amount of texting I did.

Stop w/ that iphone easier to use BS. Android phones are NOT hard to use. The UI is similar AND you get muchhhhhh more system access once rooted.

Stop acting like these Android phones are your old 1905 VCR w/ the blinking clock light.

Call me crazy but I love full control of all of my devices. Having a vendor limit me in anything relating to my device, drives me insane.

I guess supporting this stuff really hasn't ever been an issue for me, personally.

I said slightly easier for me personally, the HTC thunderbolt was awesome but the iPhone was just a little easier for me personally. I think the HTC phones look a lot better than the iPhones though, they look more high tech, if you will.

What do you mean by full control? I've heard there are a ton of things you are able to do with HTC but I wasn't sure what they mean. Like hot spots and stuff.

Well once you get the HTC Thunderbolt, you should PM kid and ask him to setp you through rooting your phone.

Once there...its awesome.

You can side load pretty much anything you want app related. I love my rooted Dell Streak.

Android is awesome

I've thought about rooting my phone but I don't want to brick it

You are savvy enough not to. I have done it sooo many times. You get nervouse at first but as long as you walk through the steps slowly, you won't have any issue at all.

How can you download music for free? Yeah, I've never had an iPhone before, my dad just got one and I really like it but I cant seem to find much difference in the two other than battery life which HTC has the advantage. The screen and camera are better I think on the HTC. Both have the front cameras, both have plenty of apps. The iPhone is smaller and cheaper, the HTC is bigger and 50 bucks more. Then the iPhone 4, and according to the Verizon lady iPhone 5 are 3G and HTC Thunderbolt and the future HTC phones are going to be 4g LTE, whatever that is.

just go to the market and search 'mp3 download' - there are countless apps you can download that let you download free music. LTE is basically the new 4G network that is being rolled out, that will be used by both at&t and verizon. the iphone 3GS has a 3 megapixel camera and the HTC has an 8 megapixel camera that shoots HD video, yea the iphone 3GS for $50 is an awesome deal but for $50 more you're getting like 3X the phone.

I'm a tech moron. Why should I root my Samsung Galaxy S? Will it really make that much difference for someone who isn't a computer programmer?

Legally free?

Well the iPhone is the iPhone 4 not the 3gs. So basically the prince of the iPhone 4 is 200, then the Thunderbolt is 250.

It does void your warranty, but if it's anything like rooting iPhones, it's a simple process to get the original software back to manufacturers specs and they will never know the device was ever rooted.

yea to be honest none of it is 4G, i remember when the whole thing started like a year and a half ago Sprint was claiming it had 4G and it was a total LIE, TMobile soon started lying saying there's was 4G as well. the new technology that is out there being built for gsm networks is HSPA+ (speeds up to and around 8mbps), which is faster than 3G, but technically i dont think its '4G' - you can imagine me trying to explain the difference between all this crap every day to customers, it's ridiculous.

There was a ruling that rooting/jail breaking doesn't void your warranty per the service provider but the phoney company might void your warranty
