Irony of the Line Play

I find it ironic that in this game, our offensive line dominated and our defensive line did not.

I do not now assume, from this 1 game, that our offensive line is a strength and our defensive line is a weakness. I still believe that our OL is a weakness and our DL is a strength.

However, It is obvious that the strength/weakness of the opposing teams lines can have as much impact as the level of our own lines.

From the play yesterday....I am assuming that KC has a stong OL and a weak DL.

When your QB is Trent Green, and you consistently have rushers put up 100 yd games, its pretty fair to assume they have a great OL.

1) Willie Roaf will always arguably be the best LT in the game-the way he anchors this KC line brilliantly is no surprise.

2) This IS KC's style of play(alot like those Showtime Lakers in the 80's)-they've done this many times to alot of the better D's in the league.

3) The Gints are gonna be in for a BIG surprise this Sat-their fans are still taking KC lightly.

In no way shape or form would I say our O-Line dominated.

They did better, and got the job done, especially compared to previous weeks, but Dominated? No

Maybe they didn't dominate, but they at least "controlled".

what game were you watching... the O - line was lucky as heck... they played horrible... absolutely pathetic. Every play someone takes a turn on the OL stinking up the offense. I'm just going to say it bluntly... Larry Allen is done, he moves about as good as a one legged rhino. He was constantly on his butt, getting spun, turning the wrong way. Plus, Al Johnson needs to be gotten rid of next year, he's horrible... Rivera needs to step up big time... he's a sad case of what he used to be... Gurode is pretty much unstellar as well... I'm wondering if Petitti will ever get it... maybe with experience, but I'm just biting nails from play to play waiting for him to get beat... and it happens at the worst possible scenarios... Lucky the KC secondary gives up all those yards or yesterday would have been a complete embarrasment... With OL play similar to that the rest of the season Dallas should forfeit the playoffs. OL help is on the way next year for friggin' sure.

well the chiefs do have probably 2nd best OL in hte league, behind seattle. So its not like they usually give up a lot of sacks, I think our DL didnt play good, but not all their fault.

Well our Offense went up against their porous defense and our Defense went up against their Potent offense. Seems about right to me.

I posted last week, following that game, that our this team was 1 offensive line away from being a playoff force.

And I still believe that.

But.....yesterday showed me that this offensive line is good enough to perform if the opposing defensive line is weak.

Dominate may be to strong a word to apply to yesterdays performance...but...IMO they did control the line of scrimmage the majority of the time. 2 of the 4 sacks were coverage sacks...and possibly 3 of them. Albeit the first sack on the first drive was an obvious instance where the middle of the line was not controlling the line of scrimmage.

But I would call 129 yard rushing, and a 4.6 yard average per carry is indicative of controlling the line of scrimmage.

Exactly.

It was interesting to watch a game from that perspective......

KC obviously has a very good offense to shred our defense like they did.

KC only has one legitimate pass rusher, Jared Allen, and he was pretty much in our backfield at will.

The Oline played well enough to win, thats all that matters.. KC was the best offense we have faced this season in my opinion. They were running at will the first 2 1/2 quarters and Green had all day to find his WRs.

I agree. They were not over powering but they were able to give Drew just enough time to get the ball out.

Oh..I am not saying that our defensive line played bad....nor am I necessary saying that our offensive line played good.

I am saying that what we saw yesterday was probably more due to the strength and weakness of the opposing lines.

I have never watched KC play this year....but watching yesterdays game I can assume that their OLINE is good and there DLINE is not so good. I can make this assumption based on what I have seen of our lines. Because I am familiar with our lines since I have not missed a game.

I think it is important to note...because we can sometimes jump to a conclusions off of 1 game perfomance.

For example...some might argue that our defense has issue's following that game yesterday. But..I would argue that our defense is still as good as it has always been....it simply ran into a really good offense yesterday.

Vice versa....I am not going to necessarily assume that our Oline is improving after yesterdays performance in which this team put up 31 points..when they had averaged 18 points a game in their 4 previous contests.

Exactly.

Over the next 3 games....our ability to get into the playoffs will have as much to do with the opposing DL's, as it does with the ability of our OL.

In otherwords, if the last 3 games are against teams with below average DL's...then this team has a good chance to put up points and win.

I wouldn't say that, Tucker at least slowed him down.

I would say that Bledsoe completed half his passes with a lineman in his face, offensive and defensive. The offensive line was terrible, but Bledsoe was able to suck it up and complete some passes.

i wanna see how Eli responds in a shootout with KC. if the burden falls on him to make a bunch of plays in the passing game - it could be a real nice day for Cowboys fans. :D
