He played that game this year, he doesn't have to do it again to appease your worries.

Every player should be able to stay out of legal trouble, but that is not the industry standard for contracts.

I'm not even sure what you're talking about with a "prove it" game. Nobody questioned his ability on the field. Prove what, exactly?

If you don't think teams will be more concerned with his deal going bad than they would for a player who has never had any off the field stuff, you're just lying to yourself. Whether or not they put stipulations in his contract will play itself out but that's the only way I would sign him.

That's fine, but it's immaterial. The point here is that an employer of a major brand asked their employee to stop making them look bad for signing him. He failed. All he has had to do is go out there and say boring football speak like he is coached to say. "Brady is a tough competitor. I look forward to playing against him." The end. No bad publicity. He can't do that, so he is either stupid or insane.

Who knows what else he can't control. Do you want to risk that kind of potential dead cap money on a guy who can't do something as simple as give a boring interview? If he can stop being an idiot, then yes, sign him. But until then, they should wait and see if they can trust him.

And I bet that's exactly what they are going to do.
I find it refreshing that a player says what's on his mind. If it's crazy, then let the consequences ensue. I cannot stand boring football speak. It's opinions like this why guys like Marion Barber and Marshawn Lynch don't speak to the media unless forced.

I agree that it's refreshing. Boring football speak is boring. I mostly fast forward through interviews or ignore them completely because they just say the same cliches. However, players aren't all robots. They speak in general cliches because it's how they are coached to do interviews from the time they are rookies. The media isn't their friend; all the media wants is click bait and that comes from controversy and drama. Any misstep gets blown way out of proportion and causes a distraction for the team. The fact that Hardy was coming off a suspension and he couldn't do this is beyond me.

As for Barber and Lynch, I think they both just don't like talking to the media. Not everyone likes doing interviews. It seems to me that they don't like the fact that they are forced to do interviews by the NFL.
