Irving should be cut today

However, at this point, it's pretty pointless to cut him. He's out on suspension for 4 games, which bizarrely, might benefit us in the sense we can see how the DL plays those first four games without him. If they play well, it makes it far easier to just toss him aside. However, if the DL struggles, you are pretty much tied to the devil and have to do what you can to get him back on the field.

Oh boy. The suspension as a blessing take. That idea is as old as it is inaccurate

Part of the issue with that is after what happened to Landry, Johnson and Parcells, no coach worth his salt will want to come here.

I never said it's a "blessing". I said there could be a benefit here as if the DL plays well without him, it's easier for the Cowboys to cut bait here.

As far as I can tell they are preparing him to be the next DC and I would love to have him as a HC as well. Time will tell if that's the direction we go. Anything less than 8-8 this year, even in a rebuilding season and I'd say everyone's job is in danger.

I disagree. We have been saying that about Garrett for years. I think Garrett has at least until the Dak rookie salary window closes. In his mind, he wouldnt want to bring in too much change during this opportunity. That would be another 3 years of the horrid Garrett. Reality is that he should do the exact opposite.

I wouldn’t cut him. I’d use him up as much as I could when he is available to play and relatively cheap. As soon as it takes a heavy investment to keep him, he’s gone and I don’t lose a moments sleep over it. He had this offseason to grow as a person and show he was worthy of an extension if his play continued at a high level and he blew it. Now, if he comes in out of shape or with a poor attitude and at any time his play isn’t like it was, he would be gone.

Ok, well he just called in because he was out of shape and wont be showing up to TC. Thats worse then showing up out of shape. And that definitely qualifies as a bad attitude.

From what I understand he was out of shape during OTAs and mini camp. He was excused from training camp due to personal reasons which is speculated to deal with custody of his daughter
