Is a DL of Selvie-Melton-Donald-Allen possible?

Given all the talk of 1 technique and 3 technique. I was wondering if it's possible to have 2 3 techniques in Melton and Donald?

I'm sure if we get Melton and Allen we'd probably set our sights on Mosely (bc our LBs might be worse than DL right now) or Martin at RG but I think the proposed DL with Melton and Donald would be hard to stop.

No I don't think it's possible because one of them has to play 1 technique regardless even if they are truly 3 tech's and the Cowboys will not sign Melton to play the 1 and they will not draft Donald in the 1st to play the 1

I dont think are LBs are worse I think our LBs cant all stay on the field healthy at times if Sean Lee stays health and Carter can play like he did in 2012 we would have somwething

in passing situations it'd be great but not sure how two 285lb DTs would hold up to a power run game and short yardage situations.

Melton is a pure 3 tech, and a dam good one at that..................it would be totally stupid to sign Melton and have him play the 1 tech.

Donald is also a pure 3 tech so I don't think you would draft him if we sign Melton unless they are planning a rotation between those two guys. That way you always have a fresh 3 tech in the game and the 3 tech is the most important position in Kiffen's/Marinelli's scheme.

That is why they passed on Sherif Floyd last year, because he is a 1 tech and Marinelli supposedly told Jerry that you can find 1 techs later in the draft and they are really not that important to blow a 1st rounder on a 1 tech in this scheme.

it's either Melton or Donald if he get's too 16, let's not have anybody out of position

Worse case scenario is we lose Melton to Seattle and the Bears draft Donald at 14...........................we are left without a legit 3 tech................nightmare scenario.

I would be fine with a rotation of players at the 3 tech anyways.

As long as we have a capable 3 on the roster.

I would think about trading up to get Donald. However, we might also have to contend with the Giants who might pick Donald.

If we sign Melton you can cross Donald off our list. However a line of Selvie-Jernigan-Melton-Allen might be possible.

People keep saying this about Floyd, but from what I remember, we passed on Floyd because viewed him as a nose tackle with minimal pass rushing ability, and therefore he had no place in our scheme. I could be wrong though.

Disagree.

If the coaches sees even 285lb Tyrone Crawford as a 1-tech, there's no reason they wouldn't play Melton and Donald together. They'd also be pretty stupid to not draft Donald based on the signing of Melton. That's like passing on Sammy Watkins because you signed Steve Smith.

We also almost played Ratliff and Hatcher next to each other, and it turns out Hatcher was more 3 than 1. Everything we've seen suggests the team has no problems playing two pass rushing DT's next to each other - for better or worse.
