Is anyone here still not convinced about the Giants?

They got hot at the right time. Eli didn't shoot himself in the foot.

The defense showed up for every game in the playoffs and was really the difference. Id say, the old 2 out of 3 (defense, ST, offense) rule, they won on ST and defense in all their games.

The Patriot dynasty ended last night just as they ended the Ram push at becoming one themselves, and the balderdash about them being the greatest ever is now permanently on ice.

A bit of wishful thinking.

Please, don't compare the Rams to the Patriots.

The Rams started to decline because Warner took a severe beating in Martz's style of offense that left him often unprotected. It was only a while before defenses caught up with the Rams.

Marshall Faulk started to age. And Orlando Pace started to suffer injuries.

And Dick Vermeil, who was really the glue that held that team together, left.

Martz is not suited to be a head coach. And it showed.

Meanwhile, Brady is still in his prime. And despite what the Giants did to him, there are many teams with a pass rush like the Giants, whom they don't have to play next year.

Maroney is still a baby by NFL standards.

Welker still has years left.

Moss is likely going to resign.

Belichick - if not suspended - is still Belichick, a fascist over details and a master at keeping his team focused - Sunday notwithstanding.

They have a bevy of talent on their roster and the seventh pick in the 2008 draft.

And they play in the weak AFC East.

Don't think for a moment this team is finished. As long as you have a great quarterback, you're always in contention - as Montana, Elway and now Brady has proven.

This years Giants?

I don't know about the category to put them in. I figure the "Jets, Ravens, Tampa, Rams, Atlanta, Seattle, Eagle, Charger" category of teams that made it to the SB. Some won, some lost (especially the Eagles).

Certainly NOT in the category of your standard COWBOY, Steeler, Raider, Whiners, or Packuh's of old. No legacy. No repeat. Nothing "great" or "dominant". Simply the latest "team de jour" in an era of free agency and salary cap "whoever" rabble. No disrespect....................they brought the wood...........................YESTERDAY!

And that's just it.....................got hot, played good since November, jelled a little, and shocked the world.

On the other hand, was New England really "that good" in this day and age of parity?????? It appears NOT. Would going "undefeated" now be the same as going undefeated in 1977? 1981? 1993? Who knows?

Everything is "kiddywampa's" now in the NFL. So what exactly does a SB Ring mean now, as opposed to 1993?

NO big deal. Our day is coming. Just by a matter of "chance", our day is coming. Because ANYBODY would win it all nowadays. Yeah, even next years Falcons, Dolphins and Cardinals. It's "upon us". Free agency, salary cap and "parity" is officially in "full bloom" now that this waste-of-time is over. 7 months, and THIS is what we have to show for it. The average Giants as "world champs". And, ELI MANNING not only a SB winning QB, but MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The universe is off it's kilter when the Giants and Manning are the lest men standing in the NFL.......................

It's a combination of them playing better, getting lucky and the other teams choking...

The Pats win was impressive however...They stoped them fair and square. The Dallas win and Packers win was more luck then anything.

I dont see them winning another Sb or even another playoff game...I dont think they are even really good..They just got hot when it mattered.

Dallas will take it sooner or later.

I wish that were true--but it ain't. The Giants are for real. No luck was involved in what they did. People forget the amount of talent they have on that team, given how inconsistent they were during the season. The truth of the matter is, a team with as much talent as the Giants have had no business losing 6 games and getting spanked at home by the Vikings and Commanders.

I'm not saying they're a dynasty in the making, bu they are for real and they are young, like us. Should be a very interesting next few years. Once again, hats off to 'em.

Man, how that hurts!

Wishful thinking? I think the parallels are appropo, Brady is the same age Warner was after the 2001 Super Bowl and if he takes beatings as he did last night then he too will suffer.

The defense they boast is ripe with senior citizens, they remind me in this regard to the 1994 49ers who assembled a cast of antiquated greats for one last hurrah, the difference is that San Francisco succeeded and New England is now just old and unfulfilled.:)

Anyhow the changing of the guard is complete, Jacksonville and San Diego are the new order in the AFC I promise you.

If Moss bolts Welker will be cut down to size in his effectiveness.

Their defense is old and brittle, their headcoach likely to face suspension.

The very dynasty they did achieve is in question integrity wise and it shall not see any more bright chapters in this era.

They will go the way of fallen giant in the coming years, they have been vanquished by the very parity they once manipulated to victory, just like the Rams who were once being hailed as the greatest ever before them.
