I don't see the Giants being a dynasty I think they just went out and played solid mistake free football and did a great job up front on defense.

Yes.

They really played smart football, minimal turnovers and penalties throughout the playoffs.

And, Eli got on a hot streak during the playoffs as well. He drastically cut down on his interceptions.

I think Eli got to the point of understanding that with his defense he did not have to make every play that sometimes punting is not a bad thing.

I think they were probably the 6th or 7th best team in the NFL this year. But they played really well when it matters and that's that. Same with the Steelers the last time they won.

The entire team just stepped it up, including the coaching staff.

But for those who say the Giants are inferior in talent to the Cowboys, I don't entirely agree.

Specifically, the Giants WRs really came on during the playoffs, esp. Toomer and S Smith. And this was all without Shockey.

And Bradshaw really adds a nice spark to their offense.

I don't think talent wise there is a signficant mismatch between the Cowboys and Giants.

I still prefer Romo to Eli, all in all, and I think Barber is very effective. But we need one guy to complement him, like Jacobs has with Bradshaw.

On defense, in our secondary, I just have little confidence when we're spread out and have to bring in a 3rd CB.

they were able to basically shut down three of the most powerful offenses of the league on their way to the title. its not their mediocre attack, Eli still sucks and still should have been picked more than once in the last quarter. this title goes to Spagnuolo and his pass rushing crew. and yeah, that part of their performance was pretty convincing

Why was it considered a great upset? Because they were considered the vastly inferior team.

I don't think he was deminishing what they did at all. The Giants got it done but I still think we're better then they are. Hey, they're the SB champs and earned it but I'm still not impressed with them. If we played them 10 times, I see us winning 7 to 8 of those games..

Who cares about a dynasty?

Do you know how hard it is to win Super Bowls? I really don't think fans quite understand how difficult it is to get to the Super Bowl.

I'd love to be a dynasty again, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Even so, I'll be satisfied with a run like the Commanders or even the Broncos of the 90s, a few Super Bowl wins sprinkled through the decade. More than that is icing on the cake.

Even if Strahan retires, they do have Tuck to replace him and Kiwanuka will be coming back. His leadership will be sorely missed though. That is, IF he retires.

They got hot at the right time. Congrats to them, but I think the Cowboys beat them 9 times out of 10.

Quoted for truth. Best post I could possibly imagine on this question.

:signmast: They simply caught lightning in a bottle! It is kinda amazing that they beat us  , GB, and NE all away from the Meadowlands, though. Maybe that old mantra, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS, is true!!

They just got on a roll and got a few breaks, definitely don't fear them at all.
