Is Avila a reach at 26?

Would drafting Avila at 26 be a reach?

Out of Tyron, Tyler, Biadasz, Martin and Steele, which one does Avila replace as a starter? Is this just assuming a training camp injury for Tyron?

I’ll never be upset drafting a big ugly late in the first. He won’t make it to Dallas in round 2 and is currently rising. It all depends on who is left on the board……..

Steele coming off the ACL injury. Swing tackle while rehabbing. Be cautious with Tyron, Steele starts anytime he's dealing with anything. Definitely don't see Tyron starting 17 games at this stage in his career.

Without knowing what the board looked like I cannot say anything about the pick.
Yep, who would of predicted that our board had the choice of Lewis Cine or Tyler Smith at 24 last year? Avila is unlikely, however, we arent the team who throws away our 1st Rd pick (anymore)....hence Jerry showing the Board as a defense against the Tyler pick.

Yes, I think people should pay more attention to Kancey.

Everyone says he's a situational pass rusher. But he has the speed, and size, to also play LB, IMO, or pretty much any position on the line.
Kancey at LB?

Bijan at TE?

I want you on record now. I feel like Steve Avila is as likely a pick at 26 as any other despite not really carrying that grade from the draft world.

I like the player. You probably like the player. That's not the point of this question. Close your eyes and imagine this....

With the 26th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select, Steve Avila G TCU.

Did they reach?

Wait. Before you answer. His real name is actually Esteban. Esteban Avila. That's pretty damn sweet and should be noted before you vote.
How can people today claim Frederick was a reach. The draft media was just wrong...

There is a chance he will be there when we pick in Round 2.

26 would be a big reach in my opinion

If John Michael Schmitz is still on the board I would take him. He has as much position flex as Avila and I think he has pro bowl talent at center.
Position flex is all well and good, but in the 1st Rd you have to draft on the player's primary position, otherwise it's like drafting a utility infielder. He hasnt played Guard for four years and lets be fair we took Tyler as someone we could fix his main concern (hand placement) immediately which should see him plug and play at Guard....but he was drafted as our LT of the future.

Totally disagree. Position flex is a strong factor for the Cowboys. Right or wrong that's how they approach the offensive line.

If he is the pick; then I would like a trade down.

Yes, and a pretty freaking big one.

Currently 52 on the consensus big board at a low value position.

Yes. He is a 2nd round guy. And I know people are going to say " well sonwas Travis Frederick", and they wouldn't be wrong. But getting an All Pro ( and likely HOFer if not for illness) in Frederick was luck. Reaching for interior leaves alot on the board and doesn't usually work out the way it did for in 2013. You are more likely to get an average starter or even a bust. Avila will be a good player, but I just dont see him being an All Pro caliber guy

I voted reach. Not a big one though unless somebody falls to 26 unexpectedly.
Think about this. New England passed George Karlaftis to take Cole Strange last year. Strange was awful and he may never even be an average starter. Karlaftis looks like he is going to be a regular 10 sack guy. 2013 is not the norm

Karlaftis is who I think we should’ve taken over Tyler.

Dude is off to a heck of a start.

He is. I thought he was last years "Most over critiqued prospect" winner. Ya he doesnt phenomenal burst, but he can get the QB from 3 different gaps on both sides of the line. Not very common. Should have gone top 20, even top 15
