Is Bobby Carpenter underrated?

Good players aren't given chances, they make chances. They force their way into playing time.

He is not under rated. I am glad he is doing something this season and hope he continues to contribute in some way, but he is not under rated. I know longer judge him by his draft status. I judge him by what he does now.

:hammer:

There are no deserves in football.

He's definitely not underrated.

He should be starting and kicking ***, but instead we had to go out and sign Zach Thomas and Keith Brooking.

Nuff said
First of all keith brooking is a beast, secondly Carpenter can be groomed to replace him in a season or two, best possible mentor.

He is too soft. he's not physical enough. He waits for the action to come to him instead of initiating the action.

What we wanted when we drafted him is the guy in Houston LB Cushings.

Underrated? For a top 20 pick? Hell no. I will give him this. He really should be playing on a team that uses a 4-3. Like most on here, I think he'd be much better there. He has played fairly well this year, but underrated? You've got to be kidding me.

To all the Bobby Carpenter doubters out there, you must haven't been looking at the games lately. Bobby Carpenter hasn't been getting plays on the side he's been on and recently in the Seahawks game he registered a sack.

If Carpenter stays here and I mean IF then he will get a chance to compete at the Mo. I don't see him being physical enough to do the job. I hope I'm wrong about him. I do give him a chance though. He's playing with more confidence and has actually been pretty good in the cover game. Better than last year's nickleLB. You didn't hear much from Celek or Gonzalez and that's saying something.

To date he's not been worth a first round pick. He probably wouldn't even be on the team without having been a first rounder AAMOF.

...he's been doing a good job on TE & Rb pass coverage...now early in the season teams kept help on Ware, but he has given respectivly few receptions, and less yards after the catch...

does it take a #1 pik to do that...probably not, but he is on the 2009 version of the Cowboys, As is Wade, as was Zimmer etc etc.......save the "hate" for guys on the opposing teams

...If when Carp & Wade are gone....who's next on the Demon of the month club?

Well I don't know if he is underrated but I do think he is hitting on me:

He will likely be back next year as a restricted FA. if the cba is not done by march 10, then 2010 will be uncapped. That also means that the players that have less than 6 years of service; and are still under their rookie deals are under their current teams control. They are RFA. WE can just tender then like we did...Bowen, Austin, proctor, & Hurd this year. We will also likely Tender a 1 year RFA deal to Hatcher & spears also... most of the key players all under contract. Miles Austin is the only player that we need to get something done long term.

Based on his cap value this year, which I think is around $3 million, no he's not underrated at all but it's also hard to say he's overrated.

I believe Bobby Carpenter hasn't had the playing time until now. I believe he's a good linebacker that is capable of being great if given the chance. He's need the playing time to get fined tuned within the system.
BoCrap is the next Ray Lewis!

I hope your right that with the playing time he is getting he will turn his career around. I think he is playing well right now but not great.

I agree. He had some crucial plays against the Eagles. It takes every player on the team and he did his part.

Hey, you once said he looked like a "lost toddler out there". I agreed with you then, but I think the guy is coming around to a pretty good player this year. We're entitled to change our minds as long as we admit we were wrong or see a change that deserves a different sort of "praise".
