Is Clinton Portis Insane?

He should be working on how to hold onto the ball.

Still, it is amusing.

I didn't take the time to check but I'm willing to bet that all you idiots condemning this as if it were a crime to humanity are probably all old and crusty 60 year olds who are bitter b/c your life has sucked so bad and you don't want anyone else to have fun.

Spoken like a true immature 16 year old. There's a time and place to have fun. His team is struggling, he could be doing other thing to help his team instead of planning his next costume party.

I'm not 60 and crusty.....22 years old.

Actually what the people on the board that are commenting on portis's dress up sessions are commenting because the Skins have a losing record. It seems to me if the team is losing he should be doing something a little extra on the field, film room, etc... Obviously this "clown" has more important things to do with his time...

Do you understand what people are saying now? Good...glad I can help.

Washington Commanders becoming more and more of a joke as the season progresses, just exactly as I predicted.

Gibbs........one more year at best.

actually I was reading the Washington Post today, and Portis wasn't going to do it at 1st, but his teammates prodded him, said they needed something "positive"...

yes, that is how bad it's gotten in Commander Park

I think the Eagles fan nailed it with "eccentric"....no harm done, imo, with those skits, they probably help bond the team with his fun-loving spirit, and some of the voices he's used in his costumes have been pretty good. Maybe he's got an acting future of some sort....who knows.

Elton John Jr. is just preparing everyone for the inevitable.

An NFL player will eventually "come out" during his active career.

So what are they supposed to do? Go to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

They do have off days and time after practice, meetings and film sessions.
Portis may be silly, but this is not a negative. It's just a young guy being silly. It does not mean that he is not serious about playing football. It could just mean he likes to clown when he's not practicing or playing.

Nice one kid.

No, I'm just kind of like the idea that professional athletes can act .... professional. and it would be different if the stuff was funny. but it isn't. it is just kind of stupid.

Now see LaTuna, there you go, being all sensible again. And you KNOW what that does to me.

I tried to stop cyber-stalking you, but you just won't let me be.

Consider yourself warned woman, I'm back. And I'll be looking high and low for every post, no matter how innocuous you may deem it. I will search until I read them all. :D

I'm no Skins fan; nor am I a Portis fan, but some of you have forgotten what it is to have fun anymore. I think this guy has an excellenrt attitude. He's pounded on week after week by people who outweigh him by hundreds of pounds, yet he can take time to make fun of an otherwise serious situation.

Lighten up; he may be an eccentric millionaire, but a millionaire no less. I wish I had that problem!

Very good post Phoenix you hit the nail on the head. Portis is doing more for morale of his teamates and yes I have done stupid things like that in the Army in the field and it does wonders for others to cause even a chuckle just because you where stupid enough to dress like an idiot.

Some of you guys are to anal the press intrerview is the time to play and the film room and pratice is a time to work

some similarities:
Dennis Rodman- dressed crazily to attract attention to himself and make more $$$
Clinton Portis- dresses crazily to attract attention to himself and make more $$$

some differences:
Dennis Rodman- he got the job done on the court defensively and rebounding
Clinton Portis- hasn't been getting it done lately on the field.

I think it's ingenius. He is totally mocking the media at the same time lowering their guard. You can't ask a guy a serious and smoldering question when he is cracking you up with that goofy look on his face. To be honest with you, I would probably do something similar. Why go through a stressfull situation like getting hammered by the media when you can have fun with the event. He is not hurting anybody. I think it's funny

Spent 10 years in the Army, not the same IMO. Press interviews are time to represent your team, not be a comedian. A little humor is one thing, going over the top to me is uncalled for. If it were a Cowboy, I for one would be embarassed.

Maybe Im too boring, but Im not easily ammused by wigs and glasses. Hes not a jerk for doing it, I jsut think its kind of corny

If this guy was a Cowboy, he would the most popular player in Dallas.

Have we forgotten that this isn't the military. I know football involves discipline, physical play and a lot of yelling but it's entertainment and not combat like some like to believe.

Uh...No. I think I said that in my post. However, I do think it is funny, because he is making a joke of the Commanders. I tend to like that a lot.

If a Cowboy player was doing it, like I said I would be embarassed. Football is the entertainment, dont need a joker being interviewed during the week. That is just the way I feel, you obviously dont feel the same way, no big deal.

ome on guys if you played for the Commanders wouldn't you wer a disguise too?
