ome on guys if you played for the Commanders wouldn't you wer a disguise too?

True

Honestly, wearing a helmet with a picture of Native American on it and calling it Commander is pretty embarrissing. That would be like having a picture of an African American on your helmet with the term "BlackSkin" I'm just glad a racial epithet is not our mascot.

Very good post Phoenix you hit the nail on the head. Portis is doing more for morale of his teamates and yes I have done stupid things like that in the Army in the field and it does wonders for others to cause even a chuckle just because you where stupid enough to dress like an idiot.

Some of you guys are to anal the press intrerview is the time to play and the film room and pratice is a time to work

Damn you for agreeing with me ... I owe you next paycheck now!

But we're right

I see nothing wrong with it...maybe it is because it is something I would do just for a silly laugh and to see people's reactions.

For those saying maybe he should be spending more time with the playbook or film.

Chances are he is required by the team or has set up with the team to do interviews...he takes a few extra minutes to put on a silly costume. Call me crazy but I doubt those few minutes to put on a silly costume is going to hurt in the study department.
Chances are if he is not reviewing the playbook or spending enough time in the film room it has nothing to do with the time he spends getting a costume together and doing an interview.

Sometimes you have to take things in life for what they are...just a guy having a little fun and hurting nobody in the process.

Can't stand the skins, think portis is a goof...but man alive he is just having a little fun with the press...is it really that bad...seriously is it so bad that people have to say negative things about him because of it.

Life is short...nothing wrong with a little fun...it is not like he is flashing the press, it is not like he is doing or passing out drugs in interviews, it is not like he is bringing a weapon to the interviews, it is not like he is verbally berating the press, it is not like he is assaulting the press...he is just having a little fun.

By wearing a silly costume to bring some humor to the interview...I just can not for the life of me see where it is such a terrible thing.

Once again, hes not a bad teammate or anything for doing it, but its pretty lame.

I laugh at some stupid shows, family guy, chappelles show ect. but it takes more than a wig and glasses that you can get at the dollar store

Spent 10 years in the Army, not the same IMO. Press interviews are time to represent your team, not be a comedian. A little humor is one thing, going over the top to me is uncalled for. If it were a Cowboy, I for one would be embarassed.

Was that the United States military? Air Force veteran here ...we had loads of fun on the flight line ...skits, parties when some of the older sergeants had a birthday, we had mock up R.I.P.S headstoneshead, black balloons, and dracula attire. Humor heals, mends, and bonds. Even in Nam, there were characters that acted completely out of there heads ...until it was time to "lock and load." Take a peep at the movie "Full Metal Jacket." There's a scene where a character by the name of "Joker" is talking to a character named Animal," absolutely crazy scene, but wild enough to keep sanity in an insane environment.

You're wrong about going over the top -- sometiMes that's exactly what's needed to keep from going under the bottom.

Excellent post Brian

Portis said that since they were losing he was going to stop, but his teammates told him to continue, because they needed something like that to lighten up the atmosphere.

Yes it's their jobs but....it's still just a game. Don't you want to enjoy your job?
