The yankees are hated just as much as us, if not more, but they do not get nearley the amount of bad pub. that we get. All I hear on the radio or TV is how great the yankees are and what a great job the manager and GM did for them and this is the making of a dynasty. I tell you, alot of it has to do with east coast bias. Alot of these people that work at espn grew up as yankee lovers and Cowboy haters. They can all kiss my:moon: !
There's definitely Yankees haters out there, particularly on BSPN. Thankfully some of those guys can remain objective.
I think it really starts with the local media. The BSPN guys rely a lot on them for info and BSPN will often reward them with face time on some crappy sports writers show or some time on talk radio.
When the local media shuts a BS story out from ESPN, they have a hard time getting the story to grow some legs. But that's not the case with Dallas' local media, outside of Todd Archer it seems.
Great example was Shefter reporting a 'schism' in the Vikings locker room once Favre came in. The local Minnesota media scoffed at the report and took Shefter to task over the BS report and you really never heard much about the 'schism' again. Dallas' local media would just add lighter fluid to the fire.
If ESPN tried to run a really questionable story about the Yankees, you can rest assured that the local NY media would terrorize that ESPN reporter. And that's why they think twice about running some story from a 'source' and at least try to verify the accuracy.
That being said, Jerry deserves some of the blame here. I was told by a member of the Dallas media once that Jerry just doesn't talk to his apologists too much, but will always give his critics more than enough time and that's a well known secret among the Dallas media. So it's no wonder why so much of the Dallas media goes out of their way to criticize the team.
So Jerry has some fault here, but doesn't mean that the media is right for doing it.
