Is ESPN getting ready to get rid of Irvin ???

I think there's an opening to be the color guy for the Dallas Cowboys radio broadcasts with Charlie Waters "retiring"... seems like a great fit for Irvin.

Would he give up the national spotlight though?

Seems to me that if they do let Irvin go it's just ESPN being themselves.

they are so bent on trashing the Cowboys every chance they get, that it must kill them having someone who loves Dallas on their network.

Before you know it they'll let D-Wood go too, and never give any reason.

Is Irvin on the way out at ESPN?

The New York Post, which is right up there with the National Enquirer in terms of journalistic standards, is reporting that an "industry source" believes ESPN has decided to cut ties with Michael Irvin.
The tabloid says there is speculation that Bill Parcells could get the nod to replace the Cowboys controversial Hall of Famer.
If that happens, I think Parcells should be forced to wear Irvin's suits, a constant source of Sunday morning entertainment.
EDIT: Yeah, Pete scooped me.

That would be silly to replace him with BP. BP will only be around for 1 year. He will do something in the NFL the next year. And if you think ESPN trashes the Cowboys now, wait until BP is on the air. When the Cowboys get better without him, he will trash the players and the organization. I guarantee.

Is ESPN on the verge of cutting ties with NFL analyst Michael Irvin?
One industry source believes the decision has already been made, and that some at the network view the outspoken Irvin as a ticking time bomb, ready to explode into a public-relations nightmare.
ESPN did not confirm or deny the report, but issued a statement, saying: "We are currently in the process of discussing studio assignments for next season."
There is speculation that newly retired Bill Parcells could end up at the network, but there is no indication that a deal is imminent.

this is interesting as they say he might turn into a public relations nightmare, as talking future possibility. i wonder if michael has shown behavior to suggest that he's back into drugs. if so, thats a damn shame.

If ESPN lets Irvin go CBS ought to go get him. I'm not an Irvin on TV fan, but they are so boring.

atleast they arent the nfl network. i cant watch their games, too boring

I could really care less whos on what show.

Really don't know why people will call it BSPN and then go and contribute to their high ratings.

If Irvin left that show there would be no reason for me to watch it. He always was entertaining and he knew what he was talking about.

To cut Irvin from that show would be like the Colts cutting Manning. He's the best guy they got on there as far and being entertaining. I like Jaws X's and O's but the rest of them are wet blankets imo.

Charlie Waters isn't colored.

ldgit,

I'm sure some people on this board are too young to get that joke. And, to tell you the truth, it probably wasn't funny enough to warrant a reply.

I amused myself, at least.

The word's unfashionable, but AFAIK, it never was a pejorative. It's one of those terms that says more about the user than the person or group referred to. In any event, I certainly hope nobody's sensitive enough to issues of race to have been offended by it. I hope and think we're all aware that people have skin that comes in different colors.

i dont think i would watch Countdown as much anymore if Irvin was fired. I love mike cause he has personality and just makes it fun to watch him being passionate in his debates with the other guys. Plus if he leaves you are gonna hear just about nothing but hate toward the Cowboys because the other guys you just about never hear give the Cowboys credit. especially that moron Jaws and Tom Jackson!

Man I am all for this. Irvin, ditka and Young have ruined that show.

I really cant take all their nonsense, any of the three.

Take those guys off the set and jaworski and tom jackson are very good.

Irvin and ditka have created this awful element to that show, screaming and being homers.....Its like watching a contest of who will root for thier former team more...

its awful.

I would enjoy that show if they had a lineup like Berman, jaworski, tom jackson and maybe one more....parcells would be great..
Berman...
:lmao2:

He's become a caricature of himself. The nonstop nicknames and "woop!" got old long ago.

Several of the "personalities" associated with BSPN now seems to behave as though the world of sports exists for their benefit. Like they're now the celebrities, and the events they report are just window dressing.

Getting rid of the Playmaka would be a grave mistake for BSPN IMO. without him there it's a snorefest. (and a total TO hatefest with Tom Jackson around...)

It would be all the more reason for me to keep my sports diet consistent with NFLN exclusively.
