Is everyone forgetting about Hardy and Lawrence?

People are so concerned about the pass rush. Hardy is one of the best in the league. Lawrence should be really good this year.

Our secondary was a much bigger néed than the pass rush. I know, a good pass rush is more important and helps the secondary. But our two DEs will be golden.

I'd have preferred a front 7 player, too, but that's not the way the board broke. We took the right player, given the options available to us. And he's a really interesting athlete. With Jones, Hardy, and Lee, we've added three good players to a weak defensive unit, overall.

Byron makes PERFECT sense as the pick. Hardy's suspension is NOT going to be 10 games or even half of it. Byron is going to be a FS/DB hybrid. Remember how we've always talked about having a true FS since Woody left? He's probably the closest to it that's not a "project."

I just watched the video of Jerome Henderson on DC.com just now and he really stressed that they needed a big CB that can cover big WRs, they wanted a guy with the flexibility to play more than one position and they thought Jones had outstanding character. Considering that 4 of our last 5 first rounders were four All Pro's in Martin, Fred, Tyron and Dez, you have to like this pick.

and Mincey

Brent, Bishop, McClain, Whaley, Gardner and Coleman aren't world beaters, but if a couple step up, we are much better.

I think most of the people that wanted dl there wanted Brown and need to realize that we just didn't show much attention to DT'S leading up to the draft and likely aren't taking one until the third day.

And sure you could make an argument for Gregory but the Cowboys just weren't going to bite the bullet in a player of his risk.

Both areas needed upgraded this weekend and to go a step further I'd like to see 2 player added to each area. Great start with Jones at 27.

Lawrence showed flashes late last year, but is still very unproven. It would be nice to have another contributor while Hardy is out and it does need to be addressed in the draft early. For now I am satisfied with the Jones pick provided we can address the dline in the next 2 rounds. LB should be addressed as well but dline and rb need to take priority.

Hardy is gone for ten games and not likely to resign after this year. Lawerance had a few good plays in two playoff games. I want more out of my pass rush.

The holes on defense aren't as big as people are making it seem. LB is solid with starters and good depth. DE has 1 great player, 1 with a lot of upside who needs a chance to play, and a very good B/U in Mincey. They also have a couple of other players at DE who can contribute.

CB/FS still needs another pick thrown at it and so does RB. I would like to see a 3T picked relatively high also and a DE if the value is right. Hope the rest of the draft goes gets CB/FS, DT/3T/DE, RB in the next 3 picks in any order. I would really, really like to package a pick this year and next to try and get an extra 3rd or 4th. Lael Collins has to be a consideration at some point also.

Why do you automatically assume Hardy is gone? If he comes in and fits in while playing well, he's not going anywhere. Jerry will keep players he wants especially at a premium position. If Hardy leaves it will be because we don't want him. Also he's not going to be suspended 10 games. More like 4-6.

What makes you think that 10 game suspension is going to stick? What makes you think that Hardy won't sign after this year?

Byron Jones is the kind of guy they should've taken in the spot where we traded up for Claiborne. Not that the 2012 draft was loaded with talent, though. It wasn't.

Hardy got a ten suspension .He will be high priced in free agency after next season.

Why wouldn't it stick? I hope it doesn't but I think it will. He will be high priced after showcasing himself a few games for Dallas. Hope I'm wrong.

It won't stick just like Ray Rice and AP. Anything over 4 games on appeal and I'm sure it goes to actual court and Doty has already said they can't apply new policy to offenses that occurred before the new policy was implemented.

As for the price, unless its a JJ Watt or Suh type contract I seriously doubt $ is the reason he leaves. You pay pass rushers, it's a premium position. If he leaves it's because they don't trust him, he didn't play well or he didn't fit in.
