Is everyone forgetting about Hardy and Lawrence?

Why wouldn't it stick? I hope it doesn't but I think it will. He will be high priced after showcasing himself a few games for Dallas. Hope I'm wrong.

Because as we have seen now with two other players in recent months, when this thing goes to court, the judge slaps the NFL for overreaching and violating the CBA.

Shoot, even the NFL knows it's going to get likely reduced if you read the quotes from their general counsel.

Hardy got a ten suspension .He will be high priced in free agency after next season.

If he plays well, they'll lock him up b4 he hits FA. I guarantee you that was discussed b4 he was signed at all.

People are so concerned about the pass rush. Hardy is one of the best in the league. Lawrence should be really good this year.

Our secondary was a much bigger néed than the pass rush. I know, a good pass rush is more important and helps the secondary. But our two DEs will be golden.

No, they are forgetting about Tyrone Crawford who gets almost no credit here as was easily a top-5 DT in the game last season. He was flat out fantastic and O-Lines had no answer of how to defend him other than to double him with 2-O-Linemen and use a RB to help out and hope that he gets unlucky and just misses a tackle.

It's also a different passing game than it even was 5 years ago. It's now very dink and dunk, get the ball out of the QB's hands in less than 2 seconds from the shotgun. It's more about the DB's being able to press and play off in coverage and more importantly...tackle well.

Let's say we get pretty good seasons from Jones, Carr, Scandrick, Claiborne and Patmon and they stay healthy. That would be a best-case scenario. We are still going to probably cut Carr because of his price tag and I'm not sure we would keep Claiborne. And I'm not sure how much longer we'll keep Scandrick (age).

I am ecstatic about this move because he fits everything the Cowboys look for in the draft. He was likely the BPA or close to it on the Cowboys' draft board. He fits the scheme perfectly. He's a high character guy, he's a great athlete and he fills a major need of ours that we have to look at for the next 3 seasons. I would rather fix this need at CB over those next 3 seasons thru the draft than thru FA, if feasible.

The NFL knows that Hardy isn't going to get a 10-game suspension in the end. They just gave Hardy a 10-game suspension so they could cover for Goodell's blunder in the Ray Rice mess and then say 'Hey, WE tried to give Hardy a 10-game suspension, but the PLAYER'S UNION blocked it!'

But, anybody that is outraged should be outraged that Goodell accepted that into the CBA to begin with.

Lawrence is unproven. Although I am very hopeful, he had zero sacks in the 8 games that he played in the regular season. Hardy is also out for 10 weeks. And will he even be back to his old form 2 years ago after sitting for 2 years? Odds are not good on that one. And then if we dont resign him, then we still have a need there. Crawford I like a lot. In my opinion we have a huge need a DT and then getting another DE would have really solidified things. Hardy can also play DT if need be.

So a lot of uncertaintly there. I am also of the mind that the trenches are where you win in this league. I am also not sold on Jones. Work out warriors not renowned for their play on the field dont excite me. Especially when 2 dlineman ranked much higher we passed on.

I would be lying if I said I did not want Brown but I'm not upset in the least that the Cowboys got Byron Jones. I think he is a very good DB that can help the Cowboys right away. Also looking forward to see a former teammate of Browns who I think it a very good player but missed last season due to injury and that is Chris Whaley

This is all assuming that Carr, Claiborne and Scandrick will be coming back. I've see. Worse secondaries field for solid defenses is all I'm saying. I actually like the Jones pick. I just don't agree that the defensive line is fine.

You don't assume in football. I assume our DL of Crawford, DLAW, Hardy, Mincey will bring pressure all day.

Nobody is saying the DL is fine. ....you people act because we didn't take Brown or something in the first round means the draft is done. We still have 6 rounds calm down and enjoy the day

I'm excited to see what they can do. I think the team is banking on Demarcus being healthy for whole season and Greg when he comes back from suspension. Hell we did fantastic last year w out either so

Why do you assume they'll bring pressure all day if they couldn't last year? Unless i'm missing something I see no reason to believe Carr, Scandrick and Claiborne won't be here last season. What am I missing? They are all under contract no?

And for the record i'm not upset they didn't take BRown. I like the Byron Jones pick. At 27 there was no pass rusher there that was going to make a immediate impact this defense needs anyway. I was speaking strictly about the notion this offensive line will be okay.

Really? Because the two biggest weaknesses (corner/DE) were filled this offseason. And the third or fourth biggest holes (DT/safety) may be filled tomorrow night. Not to mention our LB corps is at least better on paper this year. Without a doubt, the defense *should* improve based on this offseason.

IMO, our biggest weakness was pass rush and as of right now that will continue to be our weakness unless Crawford, Lawrence, etc. play above their head and continue to progress. Which very well could happen.

But for me personally, I don't have anymore faith in this pass rush than I did last year. I'd feel a little better if we could get Hardy out there by week 3 or 4 and that way he'd be ready by week 10 or so.

Hardy, Lawrence in his 2nd season and Mincey should be immeasurably better than Mincey and Selvie starting with Spencer as a B/U. Add in Lee and Jones and the defense should be better.

I'd like to think so but if Hardy is coming in Week 11....and coming off a year of no football...i'm not holding my breathe on him having a immediate impact.

why? Hardy is still able to work with the team there will be no reason why he would not be in shape

Hardy has been working out at Valley Ranch for most of the past month. Per league rules, he can participate in the Cowboys' offseason workout program, organized team activities, minicamp, training camp and preseason games. The suspension will begin Sept. 5.

Hardy's suspension will be reduced without a doubt. The question is merely how long. I'd say 50% chance it's 4 games, 25% chance it's 2 and 25% chance it's 6 games.

It's a long season. Having one player miss 2 or 4 games is not going to make or break the season, and there's certainly no one in this draft that was going to come in at DE and immediately guaranty Ws in those first few games that Hardy is out.

When Hardy is back, a line of Hardy/Lawrence/Crawford should not be something to worry about. If the team can't win with that, then it's not because of a lack of a defensive line.
