I'm just wondering what you guys think about this as of right now. I remember all the blame and pressure has always been on Wade. But if you think about it The Defense for the most part has played well except for some breakdowns here and there. However, Garrett has under his control a offense with more then enough weapon to be effective week in week out. IMO garrett has been the more dissapointing of the two. He abondons the run way to often, He outsmarts himself and doesnt seem to adjust well to a Defense that is stoping his Game plan.

HAS RED been getting a pass because WADE?

I will bet you my Margene Atkins dining room set that Jason will be in Dallas long after that never-do-well Wade Fillup is gone.

I would say that no, Garrett has proved the test of time.

The test of time? 2 seasons running the show on a sometimes explosive but very inconsistent offense, 1 season with Tony Sporano holding his hand, 1 year as a QB coach in Miami, and one year as an untitled offensive assistant in Miami. That isn't exactly a long, illustrious resume'.

I think a person could make an argument from either side of the fence and not be disproven one way or the other with the information that is available to the fan.

That combined with our offensive ranking 2 of the past three seasons. Case closed.

The title of the thread should read like this "Is Garrett A Bigger Problem Than Wade". Grammatical errors bug me, sorry. :D

The answer to the question is yes, Garrett abandons the run too quick.

A couple of things. First, statistically speaking, the offense is ranked higher than our defense. Second, our draft board has been defense heavy for years and the offense has been mostly neglected with the exception of Felix and Roy Williams (via trade). I don't know how you can hold the offense to such a standard because they have "more than enough weapons to be effective" yet feel that our defense has played well when, statistically, they're inferior. And lastly, Wade's the HC. If you feel Garrett's not passing enough, it's up to Wade to whisper in his ear on game day. That's part of Wade's job and he should be able to identify these shortcomings and make the necessary adjustment after 30 years of NFL experience. It's not enough for Wade to say we need to get so and so more touches during his press conferences; he's got to go out and take command of his team and the sideline on game day. Only in Dallas do we blame everyone else or hold someone more accountable than the HC.

Absolutely, the defense over-all has been solid during Wade's tenure as HC; the offensive play calling on the other hand...

After 9 games...

8-1 - record
296 - points scored

1,103 - rushing yards
3,571 - total yards

2008

5-4 - record
216 - points scored
171 - first downs
2,065 - passing yards
1,042 - rushing yards
3,107 - total yards

2009

6-3 - record
224 - points scored
184 - first downs
2,344 - passing yards
1,170 - rushing yards

Looks like Garrett is running it more this year than he has before...at least on paper anyway.

Also, we're only 57 yards shy of the 2007 totals and that's encouraging IMO.

The games that we've lost this season have all come down to the O either not doing anything or giving the game away. The defense has been playing VERY well for us so I would say yes.

I'm not convinced either of them are as big a issue as some posters make them out to be. There are things I like and dislike about both, but I am not ready to run either out of town just yet.

Keep in mind what exactly Wade Phillips had in the secondary when he came onboard compared to what Jason Garrett had in the offense. The secondary cost us the Giants playoff game, it cost us other games that season and it just wasn't at all a strength during BP's tenure.

The defense has improved a ton while the O has remained inconsistent. We've picked up great depth at RB, we've picked up a very good TE (yes Marty B is very good, he was superman his rookie year), and our WR corp hasn't exactly been awful compared to anyone in the division at least while Garrett has been here.

Still the O is inconsistent, while the D has been consistently improving all season. Who deserves the blame for them being inconsistent?

Yea and include the punt returns and defensive TDs as Garrett’s production. Can you say Agenda? I couldn’t care less already, you people will believe what you want regardless.

First, the RBs have 1,039yds, the TEAM has 1,170yds (includes QB scrambles, reverses, etc, not necessarily runs by design).

BUT, that's still 1,039yds on 201 carries by the RBs. That is a 5.2avg...not bad.

BUT, even using total team stats, Dallas is 8th in total rushing yards while 24th in attempts per game.

So here's what I see: this team, these RBs can run and if given the chance, they can pick up big yards.

24th in attempts/game?
