Is great coaching an option with Cowboys?

Sooner or later he's going to figure out Jason Garrett isn't going to take this team anywhere.

He's 77 years old. Time is running out for him. If he wants one mor championship, he has to make a change. There is no other way.

I have no idea if Urban Meyer is the right guy or not. I just know Jason Garrett is not
Wade wasn’t, Parcells wasn’t, Campo wasn’t, Gailey wasn’t.

Unless Jerry changes his ways and agendas there isn’t a HC out there who is.

We need to come up with Plan B.

Most fans would agree we need more Elite coaching but is it an option under Jerry?

Is Jerry still intent on proving he can win without a great HC receiving more credit than he did with Jimmy?

And even if Jerry did want to pursue a more Elite HC would one be willing to deal with his meddling?
I can't really answer this without getting political which isn't allowed here understandably..............so for the reasons you mentioned we are limited as far as the quality of head coach willing to work under the current conditions.

Short term, possibly. Long term, I don't see it until Jerry hangs it up. I don't believe that any really good Coach would stand for the condition that would be put on them.

Unfortunately it appears our destiny with Jerry.

IMO the best way to get Garrett fired is to win a Super Bowl.

I’d be all for it. Doubt Jerry is though.

Doubt it, why? Maybe not at this point because he still probably hopes Garrett can deliver. But if it comes down to hiring another head coach, he needs to consider every option. Not do what he did last time. I'll be perfectly honest, I never hated Garrett as you'll probably find a scant few threads where I bash him. But I initially thought he would be an interim head coach for the absence of Wade. And after 3 seasons of 8-8 I never expected him to even coach 2014. But now Jerry has the money of the Count of Monte Cristo. And this isn't a salary cap issue. If he truly wants to see the Cowboys win I need to see him put out the money. I only mention Cower because he is a proven talent.

Here's a quote that reminds me of the Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson teams. These guys got the best out of their players. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." This is how you get trap games.

Jerry is kind of random sometimes. He did bring in Parcells one time. But in general he likes puppet coaches, so the new head coach is the same head coach with a different name, usually. Campo, Gailey, Wade, Garrett, there is not much difference between those guys for me.

All good points and even if Lincoln Riley does come in he still has to deal with Jerry that's probably why when the rumors were flying about Bill Cowher I would never have happened because he knows what he's up against versus working for the Rooneys

Just because a coach is a puppet like Garrett does not mean they have to have zero situational awareness in football games, be utterly clueless about how to manage a game clock, or not be able to make in-game and half time adjustments. Jerry may call all of the shots Monday - Saturday but a coach needs to be able to stand on their own come game time on Sundays. Garrett is a terrible game time coach, easily one of the worst in the history of the game. Jerry can easily find another puppet who can actually make a difference come game time. Another perk of replacing Garrett is Jerry will not have the same irrational attachment to a replacement so if he does not pick the correct one at first he can make a change quicker and easier.

If Jerry can move like that we might better put him out on special teams then some men in white coats with special jackets would hopefully show up and take him away

Well if he would do that during a field goal, the kicker might get distracted and miss.

True but can he have the influence over Jerry on football decisions Mon- Sat which I believe has been Jason’s greatest asset.

I see us as having in Garrett a Walk Around asst GM but not a Game Day strategist.

We are dependent on Sunday’s on our talent.
