Is house cleaning going on?

Paea and Carroll gone.
With Thornton already gone a few weeks ago, so who is left to cut?
Sounds like the FO may be cleaning house or even cutting bait on the season.

Carroll/Paea probably to be replaced by young cheap players though it is possible a vet LB would be picked up if they are not cutting bait yet.
So much for the cheap FA strategy because McClay can work magic.
Unfortunately, FO's hubris got out of control.
So we have 2015 repeating itself.
Lets hope there is some magic left in McClay combing practice squads.

1) Hopefully TSmith's back will be figured out.
Whether he needs surgery or just rest, we shall see.

2) Also lets give the Chido's hamstring enough time to recover instead of forcing it every 3 weeks.

3) If nothing else, lets play the young players and hopefully a few will be players.
So that means Lewis, Chido when healthy, Woods and may be White.

4) On the WR side, let Brice, Brown and Switzer play, and trade TWill if we can.

5) That probably means trading DLaw before the deadline - never trusted his back despite the early performance.

The season is almost shot, so let's see some good come out of it.
Without getting into the definition of tanking, we will likely get a top-10 and perhaps a top-5 pick if we tried hard - could mean 2 defensive playmakers next year.

Definitely not. Paea retired because of his knee. He might have been pressured and offered an injury settlement by the FO so that the team could work in some new players over the bye, but this doesn't stem from one big season-defining decision IMO.

Edit: Didn't even make it to the Dlaw trade. No, just no.

How do you come up with trading DLaw? Let’s get a 3rd round pick for a guy producing at a Pro Bowl level now. Real smart.

i just dont trust his back after 2 surgeries.
his value is highest it may be get right now.
if he continues to play at pro bowl level, a contender may trade for him and pay a nice haul.

Paea and Carroll happened on the same day.
Sounds like some soul-searching has happened to me.

DLaw has a pre-existing back condition just like TSmith. These guys are not going to get brand new bodies just like
Green isn't. You shouldn't pay big salaries to guys who have injuries that will always make an entrance in the season.
Get what you can while you can.

Hard to clean house if they are leaving the play calling with Rod.

hopefully rod is gone after the season after he serves the only useful role he can now serve - lose a few more games than should have happened given the offense.

Or sounds like the team is trying to make a few roster changes during their bye week if we are going to be logical...

Well one is the team making roster move in removing a crud player they should likely have never signed. The other is just a player realizing his knees probably can't hold up anymore so just get out now while you can still walk.

Nobody is folding the season 5 games in.

The team has the franchise tag if they don’t trust Lawrence’s health.

Some of these posts we see nowadays...wow.

cut losers - good
get young players - good
play young players - good

need to do even if it means short term pain:
1. trade progress stoppers like twill if possible.
2. trade value ending-contracts like DLaw if team continues to suck.

Yeah I don't think this is a purging or house cleaning. I think it's simply a case of a failed FA offseason plan eroding right before the eyes of the Jones family.

the 2 cuts this morning seem to indicate a house cleaning.
how big a house cleaning - that may be event driven by the games next 2-3 weeks.
if they want to compete, i think there is a quality vet LB who is a FA - right?

T-Will? Sure but we won’t get anything and will still owe him money.

Nope you don’t trade the first pass rusher that has gotten double digit sacks since 2012 at no time of the season.

Franchise tag.

Thankfully...in this case, it has zero percent chance of happening. I bet you can’t tell me the last time this team has traded a player. It’s going to take some digging.
