Is it all on MM for this seasons success?

The OP is somewhat ironic or contradictory in my opinion because 2023 team success depends solely on how well a dominant defense can carry the offense.
Of which Mike McCarthy has zero gameday input.

So you give him fake credit this year just for being the head coach of a team that was carried by a defense that he had nothing to do with.

But then again,
the just fired coordinator's offense is remaining 70 percent intact so I guess this HC can receive a healthy 30 percent of successful change if there is any.

So I guess that's something.

But here's the thing,
His bottom line is still to win playoff games.

Yeah so I guess you don’t understand that the offense is going to have to start pulling weight when it matters in order for us to win playoff games. That falls completely on MMs shoulders. Dak needs elite coaching to get over the hump. I’m not saying MM and this staff are capable of that, but that’s what needs to happen

Preparation for disappointment does not work, it does not lessen the disappointment.

Being optimistic or pessimistic gets tangled up with being right or wrong. Those true fans predicting a dismal season will not be any happier than the optimists.

The problem with being a pessimist is if they're right, they're still not happy. I used to like to tell people I was either right or pleasantly surprised but that dodges the reward of having belief and faith in something that comes to fruition. And even if I am wrong, at least I was positive for a time and positive is healthier than negative.
I agree. Being negative isn’t healthy. But I’d argue lowering expectations does lessen the blow of disappointments. It doesn’t make you any happier but it allows to better plan resetting goals moving forward.

Which isnt being a pessimist. It’s preparing to take on the disappointments more realistic spinning it in a more positive manner.. Sometimes goals are set too high.

There still can be enjoyment in finishing second. Not everyone can finish 1st. And I think while wanting to strive for gold you can mentally prepare yourself with the pride of finishing second and the positives accolades which can follow.

Yes, this season is all about MM and what he can do with #4. Maybe he is the #4 whisperer and manages to get Dak to another playing level. Yeah, it's wishful thinking but no more so than what I experience with the Cowboys every season about this time of year. I always find myself thinking maybe this is the year. :flagwave:

I fully understand the offense's role/responsibility towards playoff success, trust me- lol.
But he won't hafta do too much coaching if the defense is carrying the team. More like keeping Dak from flubbing it up.
But yeah,
I guess that kinda says he's in charge of not messing it up.

Defense did their job last two playoff Ls. It’s an offensive league. They won’t do much better than that. Wasn’t enough

Hankins could very well be the best NT we've ever had. The difference he made was monstrous.
On one of the TC reports a few days ago, they were talking about Hankins and Mazi and how big they are, as it looks they take up a lot of space in the middle.
So if they can plug up the middle like they hope they can, it will create much more opportunities for DLaw, Williams, Micah.

Is that McC or Quinn's influence for those D positions?
Doesn't matter. It's happening.

Since Quinn is most likely not HC material, judging from the past, he most likely needs a legit HC up top. MM fits that bill.

Plug up the middle and collapse the pocket. Collapsing the pocket is what creates more opportunities.

Guys who do nothing but plug a hole can be found cheap every day in FA.

DQ’s best shot of taking over is a collapse during season. Otherwise he’s waiting for the perfect situation as HC. Dallas isn’t it.
I agree with this, everyone just assumes DQ is watching this thinking "Man i would love to be in MM's shoes" he may be looking at this saying "Man do i feel sorry for you, but i like my money and that you take all the heat"
