Is it all on MM for this seasons success?

GMFB just had a segment discussing this. It was based off of Jerry's comments from yesterdays PC.

Jerry's comment was, something like ... it is not so much what Kellen Moore wasn't, it is what Mike is ...
So they dissected that as to what he may have meant.

As they believe it came down to the last 2 years playoff loses to SF. They said what a great offense they have had. But yet 12 points and 17 points in playoff losses just is not cutting it. This is where MM comes into calling plays.
Jerry also said something like ... they feel the offense can be where they want it to be now as to moves made ...

They said Dallas has had this great offense, but can't get further in the playoffs. So is MM the answer for this, and is the season all on him now.
And that Jerry over what happened the past 2 years, decided a change was needed to overcome this?

The consensus was the defense will improve, as we seen the additions, but what did they do to improve the offense, so it should at least be the same. Then one said well they they added Brandon Cooks, so that will help a lot.
YEP!

This experiment with MM calling the plays will end up with MM getting a pink slip . MM is gonna run out of excuses after this season . Not convinced MM is gonna get this team to a a SB . His coaching is dated and the cracks are showing . But seems Jerry likes to have nachos with MM and some drinks.

Every offense in football runs option routes on almost every play.

I mean, depending on what you consider an option route, something like 90% of routes are. You'd never beat a zone coverage without them.

You can correct them, Mac, but they'll spout some other nonsense a day later. That's the level of the Kellen critics around here. Don't know football 101.

And at the same time he's a huge upgrade over everything we've had since Tuna.

Exactly what are you proposing we do at HC that will be an upgrade?

Yup. They don't appear to understand the real criticisms of KMo. Consistently throwing 40 yd passes on 2nd/3rd/4th and short. Driving the field w/ an excellent run/pass split, then getting inside the 20 and suddenly switch to Passpasspass. Not paying enough attention to TOP/clock, which is related to not putting enough emphasis on getting the 1st downs. Not enough short passes. Short passes open up longer passes. Weak run plays. At times it looked as if he just didn't understand running the ball.

KMo may do fine w/ Herbert.

The grass is always greener somewhere else. Garrett's still out there?

San Diego has a good passing attack. Their quarterback is tall looking over the line and to a very tall and good receiver group. Scoring should even go up for the team with vertical availability for Red Zone patterns.

He is not a huge upgrade. A fired and declining coach who is out of the league top coaches elites . And it showed in big games . He is clueless . Hired his bust of a freind at defense whomgot fired so quickly . Now he got rid of Kellen to buy time. He has no energy or insight . Nor was Garrett by the way .
alternatives . ? Sean Payton was there !!! Gruden is available, Lincoln Riley , and our own DC !!

or young coordinators.
problem is jerry likes older coaches with skins on the wall.
So he is very limited in who he would hire.
If he hired a young guy, he would be meddling more so its hopeless.

Mac is the head coach so shouldn't it all come down to him?
It comes with the big bucks...

He’s obviously a more experienced and proven HC and has assembled what appears to be a stronger contender but until he kicks down the door in a championship game appearance his accomplishments in Dallas will end similar to others preceding him this era coming up short.

And in the end who deserves more credit for less accomplishments ? A HC who didn’t really deserve to be HC or a proven successful HC who struggled within a dysfunctional organization. Much like our last better HC this era in Tuna.

This is going to be a telling moment in Cowboys history which will greater define this era as Jethro continues his pursuit to prove he can build a championship caliber team without Jimmy. And then stay out of the way long enough for it to meet its expectations . Tick tock!!

Yep

Unfortunately this is probably as good as we can attract with our type of ownership hanging over this franchise.

Washed up championship caliber HC’s who’s phone isn’t ringing or wanting to come out of retirement is probably all we can hope for .

The bigger question is if MM can’t get it done, who that Jethro would attract can?

And we must also remember that we might not have great enough talent at some of the key positions to win it all anyway. Even if we got thru the NFC I’m not sure we could get by top teams in AFC.

It is what it is. Despite whatever coaching we do have , ultimately this is a talent based league and the teams with the most Elite QB’s and defenses along with best coaching are going to have the best opportunities to win.

MM and Dak have a 2 season window……if it doesn’t happen, a new coach will select his new quarterback
I agree ...........unless there is a complete dive ( only 0-5 wins ), both will return for 2024 which could very well be their last season.

It's 1000% on MM this year. Everyone wanted Garrett gone, MM was hired to get the team further than Garrett did.. so far he has not done so. You can say this is better or that is better but the end results are the same. MM was not hired to win 12 games a year and bow out in the divisional round, Garrett could do that. If MM does not get this team past the divisional round this year (barring some serious injuries to key players), he will be gone, IMO.
I agree somewhat........just don't see Jerry firing him if he makes the playoff because of the year left on his deal. I see him riding MM out the final year of his deal and THEN not extending/resigning him.

Depends on whether Booger recalls the comments be made about being premature with Chan Gailey. He liked to use that while overcompensating with Garrett.

That would be hilarious if we go 16-1 and lose in the divisional round again. Lol

Do we fire a HC for going 16-2 and losing three straight seasons in divisional round ?

The drama Jethro creates on his own is pure gold. Lol
Thats the problem with trying to enjoy the regular season.

9-8 and a NFCCG appearance is better than 15 wins and and early bounce, so even if they are winning nearly every game, no one is going to trust it.

After robbing myself of having nearly any joy out of the 14 and 16 seasons because I refused to believe they wouldn’t get picked off when it mattered most, I try not to feel that way in advance any longer.

I don’t think any negative Cowboys fan would rather be right than win, but it does take something away from it. But to each his own as to how they want to see things.

For me, lately anyway….”haha Jerry, you didn’t fool me. I knew you’d fail….” doesn’t make me feel better about it.

I think Herbert is much better suited to run a KMo attack than Dak.

The biggest difference that I've seen w/ MM in charge is that I'm no longer laughing at the team. Isn't it funny how MM takes over, and not long after we have legit S's and NT's? Although we may be a bit short in an area or two, we are still a top 3 team in the NFC and a super bowl contender.
