Is it me or does Julius refuse to bounce outside when there is no hole in the middle?

I think some of you guys are in a time warp.

This is August..pre-season.

JuJo has nothing to prove in pre-season except to get injured.

Give it a rest.

I saw Jujo get some good runs early in the game.

Remember..we are running basic offensive plays and not game planning ANYTHING yet.

We are not going to let the other teams scout us at this point.

The running game included.

Hello.

Anybody listening.

The run blocking was abysmal. That's the biggest problem with the running game.

Jones looked to be in good form - he ran with quickness, was decisive, and hit the hole (or lack of one) hard.

Actually, he's fighting for a starting job.

totally agree

not sure what others are seeing, maybe some arnt watching the game and commenting...but when 2 or 3 guys run almost untouched into the backfield it doesnt matter who you have at RB...plays just arnt going to work

Adams will be fine and Gurode/Rivera arnt too bad, but Kosier and the RT's have been bad...Kosier's run blocking is dismal

I agree,a lot of times Jones is getting met before he could take his first step out of the backfield but, Barber is making more out of nothing then Jones IMO. I still believe if the blocking was a little better Jones would be the better back.

Watching the game I have to agree that he is reluctant- more reluctant NOW then he was as a rook- to bounce it outside. BUT can you wonder why? BP always whinning about negative plays, take what you can get, don't take chances, blah blah blah. THIS week he was all over Barber for trying that and failing. Is it any wonder that our backs are reluctant to take chances?

everybody be calm....Julius needs the carries to get going and when we are full strength....things will open up

BP needs to tell his backs that they won't get sat down as long as they make good yardage NO MATTER how they do it. At least let them have the option of taking chances.

...with you and the poster you quoted. on the first couple drives i was thinking jj looked great. it seemed after those series, our line turned into a sieve on running plays so i dont blame jj.

i was especially impressed with the way he seemed to run through arm tackles early before the blocking gave way and they were able to gang tackle. i always thought, and read it here as well, that sometimes it seemed he went down too easily.

i feel good about jj as the starter and dont see the "battle" against mb3 some are forecasting here. barber is good, but he lacks that gear to make the 6 yard run into a 60 yard run. saw it again last night. i think hes suited for what he is - a 3rd down back and an occasional change for jj to get a breather.

Hey....mark the day on the calendar...we agree on something. :D

Well said..."at least let them have the OPTION of taking chances"

Honestly, I am so sick of the "play it close to the vest" Parcells offense.

If I wanted to see this kind of offense, I'd watch a tape of the 1973 Minnesota Vikings.

NO !!!!!
NOT THE 73 VIKINGS!!!!

I would rather watch the 04 Bears.
or the texans anytime the last 3 years!!!!

:p:

Compared to those two, the Vikings of 1973 were an offense juggernaut.

Actually I think the 71 Vikes might have been worse on O.

Those teams had Osborne and Bill Brown...guaranteed 3 yards per carry...Kapp was the QB...he could throw a wicked screen pass... :D

OY.

Kapp was gone by 71. they were starting a bunch of nobodies at QB. They stank it up on O.
