Is it Me? Or Was the Offensive Line Kinda Backwards Last Season?

Larry played every position but C if I'm not mistaken. Eventually he settled in at LG but he went where the team needed him to put the best 5 on the field especially early in his career. If I recall correctly, he slid back out to T later in his career when we had injuries. Talent & willingness to adapt.

Zack was always more suited for G in the NFL regardless of where he played in college. Should he have been willing to shift out when needed? Yes. Did he? No.

But both of these guys were built more like G's. Larry's freakiness allowed him to do whatever he wanted to do. Tyler on the other hand has the physical characteristics of a T. He has also show a willingness & talent to do either. Can he be more dominant at one position? Maybe. We don't really know how he would do at LT if allowed to focus on it for a period. Is he a really good LG? Yes.

I do know for sure though that I will take a really good LT & a league average G over an inconsistent T & and AllPro G any day of the week. T is simply just more important and harder to find.
So, arm measurements have basically empowered the Zone to say Tyler should be a tackle.

That’s what this is all about.

And, honestly, 90% of the posters here don’t even know the “prototype” measurements and just churn the echo chamber.

The dude is a badass at Guard.

Can we just not be Madden armchair GMs for a minute and let it go?

The best 5 play period.

If anything draft a LT and move Guyton RT. However, Steele's contract means he will be starting at RT, so none of that will be happening.

It's not like we also haven't seen him play T.

It's difficult for short armed guys to play T. That's born out over years of data.

I only said they should play Tyler where it best helps the team. Not sure why that wouldn't be everyone's thought.

I don't know. Maybe the Cowboys know something I don't know....

But last year, they had their best LT, who also happens to be the best LG, playing LG. Meanwhile, the player that struggles the most ends up at LT, where his best position happens to be RT.

So what gives? Even when Dak went down, there were no changes in the offensive line where one could argue a player swap may have benefited an offense with a limited Cooper Rush. Or is it that he also likes the best protection from the LG position? Even if so, do these guys know what is best for them and the team?

I get it. They were experimenting out there. But the line could have been better if we had played our players to their strengths relative to doing so having a higher impact on the overall team.

Just my two cents
Guyton was a horror. Apocalypse Now type horror.

Should’ve had Asim Richards at LT and Guyton at RT.

So you think putting Tyler at LT and have no LG makes our team better?

Last season's offensive line coach was the most colossal waster of talent I've ever seen in the national football league. How that guy survived all these years is called the good old boy network.
This year's offensive group should be 50% better, at least. However, you still have to throw the ball down the field in order to have a running game.
I know that's the opposite theory of the old narrative, you gotta run the ball to open up the pass. But when the entire league knows you're incapable of mid-range passing, they sit on your running game and short passes.
Seems like we must have just addressed that congratulations Jerry
Waste of talent?

You had a rookie Guyton playing LT, Steele at RT, another rookie at C and Martin playing hurt all year.

What talent did they waste?

a top coach finds where a player will best succeed and puts him there

clearly Tyler is best at Guard.

Beebe there is some debate on that but they are going to leave him at center for this year

Guyton will get another year at LT because that is where they drafted him for and honestly throwing him to the wolves as they did was unfair to him and the team; but they do need to give him another year at LT to see what he has got

Hoffman and Bass and Richards. we will see this year.

Sadly, I do not think Steele is ever going to get back to his peak

However, remember we have a new OL coach and this is all speculation
