Every year I get hell from the family because we have to plan dinner around the game. I cant eat while the Cowboys are on. I'm too nervous, I can hardly get it down with out wanting to puke it up. I have never been able to snack let alone eat during a game.

Is it wrong of me to make everyone plan dinner early or late so I can enjoy the game?

Does anyone else have this issue?

I have told them a dozen times, "do your thing and I'll join after the game"

I dont get what the big deal is!

No, it is not your fault. The same thing happens to me, though I can eat. I will take my plate and eat while I watch. My wife's family are not into sports at all. They will ask if I want to join everybody and I tell them no every year. I'd rather be in a bedroom by myself with the game and my food than with a bunch of people.

Thats my other issue. I'm not real good at watching my boys with people around. I'll even admit I probably look like an idiot and I dont really need people seeing me that way.

Until recently I could not even watch the draft with company unless they were REALLY into it like myself and friends like that seem to be few.

Do what you gotta do, but it's wrong to expect them to change their plans on account of you. Just enjoy the leftovers after the game.

yeah my family screws this up too. They like to eat at halftime and I just can't get into it when people are distracting. I'll dvr it and watch it the right way when I get home. :starspin

We've had dinner at our house for several years now, mostly because we have the biggest TV and it is a better setup for watching football.

The nice thing about doing the majority of the cooking is that I can pick what time we eat. My mother-in-law is the only one in the family that doesn't like football, and she is very understanding about the dinner time.

You all are amateurs... I'm making my entire family and in-laws switch Thanksgiving dinner to Friday so I can go to the game every year. :D

I grew up with the understanding the dinner would always be ready BEFORE the game.

So it's always at 2p CT. If I go visit someone, it's with the understanding that I plan to be a bad guest and watch the game while I eat.

So I'm not alone! I feared I was the only who gets so nervous during games that I can't eat. It seems ridiculous to become so worked up over something trivial in the grand scheme of it all. I always feel silly.

My entire family is Cowboy fans luckily so the game is on regardless.

Usually we eat while the Lions are playing and the game stays on but the sound is muted until everyone is finished eating.

The Living Room and Dining Room are all in one big open area so it works out.

They way we have always done it is:

Thanksgiving lunch at 1:00.

Cowboys Game (during which there is almost always a heated debate/argument amongst cousins, uncles, brothers etc. over the play calling and actual level of play, egos are normally bruised, names are called, relations are disowned, and it has happened on occasion for the entire party to split with on half retiring to an up stairs bedroom to watch the rest of the game...and I am pretty sure some of them are closet DCZ posters, theogt always reminds me of a particular uncle...of course everyone realizes this uncle is quiet crazy...;))

Thanksgiving Dinner at 6:30. Usually a festive or dreary atmosphere depending on the outcome of the game.

Good book ends if you will.

I won't marry a girl that won't let me watch Cowboys games every Sunday, and also on Thanksgiving. No chance.

Jeez, some of you people eat insanely early. When do you eat lunch? 10 AM?

When i watch the games i get nervous as well...and don't want too eat...i have that nervous feeling, like as if i just took a test, and it decides weather i can get a high profile job or something, so you wait as you are being called for the results

idk what it is...my friends invited me over for dinner, but i told them, id join them after the game, i cant watch it with a bunch of people...and i never eat or drink until were up by three scores or game is over

and if they lose it messes up my whole day...sometimes even the week

it sucks to be so attached

Not your fault.

BUT. Our almost losing to the Deadskins last week WAS my fault. Allow me to explain.

I'm in Atlanta. I slept late that day....REALLY late...woke up like 1:30 PM well after the game started. Of course, it wasn't on local TV (damn the Falcons all to hell), so I immediately and grogily took a quick shower, got dressed, and sped over to my local watering hole. It was kind of cold here, so I put on the first long sleeved shirt I saw in my closet, not thinking anything of it.

Got over to my watering hole, and after watching almost to the end of the game, before the TD drive, it dawned on me.

There I was, cheering on the Cowboys, in a bar, wearing a long sleeved Commanders-red colored shirt!:eek::eek:

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I immediately got on my knees and prayed to Tom Landry to forgive me, and voila, the game winning drive :D
