Is it ok to start talking about it?

Amidst this unexpected season of drunken celebration, there are quiet questions brewing. And no, I'm talking about Romo or Dak or a crazy world under whichever nutbag wins the presidency.

I mean questions nobody feels right asking.

This golden crop of rookies, combined with defensive suddenness and a man-eating offensive line, has us riding a wave of hope that nobody saw on the horizon in Oxnard two months ago. Somehow, the league turned upside-down, and brand-name powerhouses are falling to pieces. Who exactly is good, and who isn't? Nobody really knows who from what right now.

What we do know is that our Cowboys are 5-1, and that 10-6 should win this division handily. My extreme powers of deductive reasoning tell me that's a given for Dallas, and that the Cowboys are a shoo-in to win the NFC East unless a meteor hits Frisco, Texas on a Wednesday morning.

So, what's next?

I've scoured this schedule, and I find myself - dare I say it - actually looking for losable games. There simply aren't many. (Did I say that out loud?) The ding-dong Cowboys are suddenly dang-damn good.

They aren't going to win out, surely, but who's going to beat them? Pittsburgh may not have Big Ben. Baltimore just can't score. The Eagles look limp. The Giants are a mess. Who? Nobody wants to play against this offensive line. Just ain't fun. Who out there in the NFC has the goods?

Such is stirring up the questions. First, is the focus now about home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and second, is this a Super Bowl team?

Somebody shoot me now and get it over with. I'm talking the crazy talk. I should probably have my posting privileges revoked before I shame you all. Stop me before I implode the internet.

Look at that schedule. 13-3? No, I'm being serious. 14-2? Is this team going to the Super Bowl? Then who is?

Blurred by the constant Dak/Romo and pass-rush discussions, the much larger picture here is bigger than we could have ever imagined.

Fans can talk about whatever they want ....... I do not understand the pump the breaks or put away the anointing oil threads.

Thats just guys trying to sound cool, like they are above getting excited.

If you want to start a thread about us winning the Superbowl or Dak and Zeke being rookie, league, and even superbowl MVP ..... go for it.

The threads we start on a message forum has nothing to do with the final outcome of the Cowboys season.

People should get as excited about this team as they want too ...... I know I am.

It's a year where we seem to be getting he breaks. Rodgers falling apart, Roethlisberger's meniscal surgery. Who knows what happens between now and when we play MIN?

That said, we've got a good team. The best teams will still be hot during the run after Thanksgiving. Right now, we're an NFC contender, which is great to see. Home field would be amazing, though.

stars are aligning

eagles - logan probably out or very gimpy
steelers - ben may be out or gimpy
baltimore- not doing well
vikings - not much running game meaning their QB has to carry them
Commanders - we beat them in DC already
eagles game 2 - too far ahead to think about

Yes, Super Bowl is definitely realistic and reachable. We were a couple plays away from the NFC Championship in 2014 with virtually the same type of d-line where there was very little pass rush. I do hope this bye helps Lawrence find another gear and he is the pass rusher we all know he can be, and someone like Maliek Collins takes it up another notch.

I'm with you tho, if we are the team I think that we are, aside from going to Minny & Philly, I really feel strong going into the rest of the games.

This point is so under-mentioned and appreciated. To get to the ultimate goal you NEED breaks and "good bounces"

If we (Jerry) stay the course & dont screw this up, I see 13-3 and a very formidable run at a title this year. Yes. This year.

This has always made me chuckle too. It's all the "realist" who don't want to look non football smart and want to be perfect.. aka beta personalities.

I think it's super important for us to play in Dallas in the playoffs.

I want the bye and I dont want to not go to Minny, Lambeau, Seattle, or Atlanta.

I think we are close, erod. We may not quite be a SB contender (tho, this team is surprising me every week), but we will be next season if this team attacks free agency and the draft with scalpel precision.

We need an end rusher, a very-good to elite end rusher to pair with Tank. We also need a MLB.

However, with how elite our offense is, maybe we don't. Maybe our defense flashes when it's crunch time (post season) and feeds off of our devestating offense.

I'm starting to buy into this team as a contender, but I'm certain after next offseason, we will be a favorite, and not because we are the media magnet, but rather, due to the fact that we will have the most well-rounded team we've had in two decades.

It's almost like a "process" huh? Isn't this what's been said all along? Keep the staff together (Garrett, Linehan, Marinelli, McClay), build the team through the draft and get younger(Claiborne, Frederick, Martin, Jones, Elliott), make tough financial decision for the benefit of the entire team (Ware & Murray). It's almost as if these guys knew what they were doing all along but didn't have quite the same time frame of the fan base. Maybe it was just luck.

Right now I see this team as a group of players that are teammates instead of a group of players that are playing good enough to be 5-1 and very close to have been undefeated. All I care about is winning the next game .then after that game I'll care about the game after that. No need in looking past the next game on the schedule. I'll start thinking playoffs when they officially qualify. So let's put away the anointing oil and tap the breaks.

As good as we were in 2014, when we lost on Turkey Day not only did it look like long odds for the division, even a playoff birth still needed some work to happen. Still too early to get excited, wait for the halfway point.
