Is it ok to start talking about it?

Amidst this unexpected season of drunken celebration, there are quiet questions brewing. And no, I'm talking about Romo or Dak or a crazy world under whichever nutbag wins the presidency.

I mean questions nobody feels right asking.

This golden crop of rookies, combined with defensive suddenness and a man-eating offensive line, has us riding a wave of hope that nobody saw on the horizon in Oxnard two months ago. Somehow, the league turned upside-down, and brand-name powerhouses are falling to pieces. Who exactly is good, and who isn't? Nobody really knows who from what right now.

What we do know is that our Cowboys are 5-1, and that 10-6 should win this division handily. My extreme powers of deductive reasoning tell me that's a given for Dallas, and that the Cowboys are a shoo-in to win the NFC East unless a meteor hits Frisco, Texas on a Wednesday morning.

So, what's next?

I've scoured this schedule, and I find myself - dare I say it - actually looking for losable games. There simply aren't many. (Did I say that out loud?) The ding-dong Cowboys are suddenly dang-damn good.

They aren't going to win out, surely, but who's going to beat them? Pittsburgh may not have Big Ben. Baltimore just can't score. The Eagles look limp. The Giants are a mess. Who? Nobody wants to play against this offensive line. Just ain't fun. Who out there in the NFC has the goods?

Such is stirring up the questions. First, is the focus now about home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and second, is this a Super Bowl team?

Somebody shoot me now and get it over with. I'm talking the crazy talk. I should probably have my posting privileges revoked before I shame you all. Stop me before I implode the internet.

Look at that schedule. 13-3? No, I'm being serious. 14-2? Is this team going to the Super Bowl? Then who is?

Blurred by the constant Dak/Romo and pass-rush discussions, the much larger picture here is bigger than we could have ever imagined.

11-5 at the worst, 12-4 more likely, 13-3 a legit possibility.

I think we are close. Kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop in a big game for Dak just because every rookie QB gets jitters. It's one thing to get thru Lambeau as a rookie, another to get thru NFC Conference Championship games and the Super Bowl.

I think we are in a great position. I think anybody that wants Romo back right now isn't thinking straight. Far better to have him when he's needed. Meanwhile, he can rest and get more ready.

I think the improvement in the secondary has been a very big change that doesn't get a lot of talk. Carr and Wilcox look competent. Clairborne looks pretty good. Anthony Brown looks fantastic for a rookie and Byron Jones has room for improvement, but is still a solid player. We can now play a lot of zone or man coverage.

The only team I question that is superior to us in the NFC is Minnesota. There's certainly teams that can beat us, but I think as far as being flat out superior, it's Minnesota. However, they play n a domed stadium so I think that reduces some of their HFA.

It ought to be pretty interesting once Dez gets back into a groove. We haven't had both Dez and EE in a groove playing together, yet. We've seen how well we stretch the field horizontally with Dak and EE. With Dez, we can now stretch it vertically as well.

I will say where Dak reminded me of Tom Brady was in the first drive against Green Bay. Most QB's would slow things down. Dak and the offense marched right down, executed perfectly and sped up the offense to make a quick and easy score. It didn't entirely deflate the Packers defense, but it made them aware that it was going to be a long day in stopping the Cowboys offense. That's something that Brady does extremely well weather it's at home or on the road.

This next game is very important. Will the extra week help them, or hurt them? This is where coaching comes in. Garrett needs to keep them grounded and focused. It's easy for young players and players that are not used to success and the hype that comes with it, to starts drinking the Kool Aid and lose focus.
I hope they remain close and ready to go, i find myself listening to 90s music on Sirius. Taking me back to the good old days of Cowboys football.
I'm gonna start listening to some 70s music too. Might need to starts drinking Schlitz beer again. Haha

Broke it once, sprained his AC joint badly two other times.

Garropolo, Hoyer (last night), Rodgers, many others.....it's a common QB problem.

But I read here that it was exclusively a Tony Romo problem....

I think we are close, erod. We may not quite be a SB contender (tho, this team is surprising me every week), but we will be next season if this team attacks free agency and the draft with scalpel precision.

We need an end rusher, a very-good to elite end rusher to pair with Tank. We also need a MLB.

However, with how elite our offense is, maybe we don't. Maybe our defense flashes when it's crunch time (post season) and feeds off of our devestating offense.

I'm starting to buy into this team as a contender, but I'm certain after next offseason, we will be a favorite, and not because we are the media magnet, but rather, due to the fact that we will have the most well-rounded team we've had in two decades.

My response only deals with this year. IF we can continue on the path we are on, 5-1 and could be 10-2, I am all in favor of bringing Ro Mac back THIS YEAR (addresses your MLB), and Gregory back game 15 (hopefully addresses your edge rusher). Hopefully by playoffs, assuming we make it, they both will be hitting their strides.

As we've found against our early divisional games they could have gone either way. No one in our division has a losing record.

I don't trust anyone's extreme powers on the Cowboys with our recent history this era only the results of the games.

I can't recall when I've been this excited about our future and what's unfolding in front of our eyes but I would caution becoming too intoxicated this early in the season with so many intanglebles still which could determine the outcome .

I've never understood why we can't be excited without attaching all of these expectations especially without any recent history with the exception of one playoff season in the last 6.

Commanders are playing well too and if Cousins doesn't throw that game away they are in first place. Their schedule is very tough upcoming but we have lose able games as well.

One week at a time. We have much to root for this Sunday. We could be up a game and a half on Wash and 2 up on Philly or we could be facing a game next week to remain 1st place . It can turn from week to week . Enjoy!!

Really good point - a lot of personnel breaks in the GB game - Philly losing key linemen etc.

We've had our fair share of bad luck, got to acknowledge the Karmic worm when it turns your way.

Eifert's setback v. CIN was another one. I ain't complaining. :)

I still stand by Vikings are doing this with smoke and mirrors. Like the Cardinals of the last few years. They will be exposed sooner than later.

I think that Vikes defense is absolutely legit. But they do have a seriously thin OL and a QB with a long history of getting injured. 10 more games is a long way to go to not suffer an injury at those 6 positions. Plus, they play the Eagles this week, and you just know that Eagles defense is going to be up for Bradford, one way or another.

I obviously don't wish an injury on anybody, but they do have a way of happening over the course of a season. And that MIN team has already had their share of big injuries.

Being excited is great. I'm excited but I still think it's early for a Cowboy super bowl prediction. But I think it's early for any team after 6 games.

I don't have a issue with people talking about the super bowl but I can see why people say pump the breaks.
Yep.

Only teams in NFL off to a good start with recent championship history who should or could be talking Super Bowl would be Pats, Hawks and Broncos ..possibly Steelers until Ben went down. Broncos still have QB issues too. And I might still throw Packers in there with Rodgers history.

Minn, Dallas, Atl maybe even a Buffalo or Oak could be best of the rest of unproven championship caliber teams. But we've seen 5-0 teams bust before. Fun to speculate especially for fans like us who have been so hungry for so long ready to hop on any sign of success . Normal Human instinct.

My problem is ....... who are they telling too "pump the brakes"?

How can a fan slow down expectations of a team? How does that help or what does it accomplish?

Its like they are saying ..... "please don't say things like that because it might get me excited also and I don't want to be dissapointed because I am not able to handle it"
I can only speak for myself. I've never told anyone to pump the brakes but I do get why people say it. I just can't talk super bowl after 6 games. Again, thats just me. I didn't buy into the super bowl talk in 2014 until the Indy game. Then I thought yeah this team has a chance. I'm just more of a present type person. Nothing wrong with high expectations though.

But yea, it's ok to start talking about It as long as you don't take yourself too seriously and not the first one to lash out if it suddenly turns or becomes more of a struggle .

We could easily be 3-3 as 6-0.

Fans can talk about whatever they want ....... I do not understand the pump the breaks or put away the anointing oil threads.

Thats just guys trying to sound cool, like they are above getting excited.

If you want to start a thread about us winning the Superbowl or Dak and Zeke being rookie, league, and even superbowl MVP ..... go for it.

The threads we start on a message forum has nothing to do with the final outcome of the Cowboys season.

People should get as excited about this team as they want too ...... I know I am.
But . .But . .But . . . . What about reality??

While I agree they could have gone either way, we did not run the ball well. If in game 2 against them we run the ball like we have the last 4 games, I think we domintae them as well.

Right now I see this team as a group of players that are teammates instead of a group of players that are playing good enough to be 5-1 and very close to have been undefeated. All I care about is winning the next game .then after that game I'll care about the game after that. No need in looking past the next game on the schedule. I'll start thinking playoffs when they officially qualify. So let's put away the anointing oil and tap the breaks.
Oh no you didn't.

That's great. I'm very excited.

Responding to who you quoted ...

Nothing wrong with having pep rally's and cheering us on with excitement but this thread was asking if it was ok to start talking about it which welcomes rebuttals.
