Is it really all JJ's fault?

"The Associated Press released its NFL All-Pro teams on Friday morning, and nine players from the Dallas Cowboys landed on the two teams with CeeDee Lamb, DaRon Bland, Zack Martin and Brandon Aubrey earning first-team honors and Dak Prescott, Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Micah Parsons and Bryan Anger earning second-team."

So, if Jerry as GM is fielding a team of All-Pros, and he hired a "proven" defensive coordinator (Quinn) and a Superbowl-winning coach (McCarthy), in recent years, what is he doing so egregiously wrong?

Sure, he's the face of the franchise unlike other owners, but in some ways, that should be a good thing...syphoning unnecessary media attention away from the players.

And no, all of his decisions haven't panned out, but that's for every owner. Hec, many people take 1st-round QBs who become busts. Way more busts than success.

So, I ask the honest question (also asking myself because I crap all over Jerry Jones too when given the chance), what more can he do?

Yes, I think this team is overrated, but the pundits and others always tell me this team has one of the most talented rosters in the league, backed up by 9 All-Pro players, so I guess I'm wrong.

But if this team IS truly talented, and Jerry hired seasoned coaches to get this team over the top, can we really blame Jerry for all the team's woes as of late?

Not a bad thread. I mean really it comes down to either MM and DQ are geniuses and managed to carry a bad GM and a mediocre roster to 12 wins and the #2 seed, or the roster is truly one of the top two rosters in the NFC and MM/DQ let us down.

Which is the truth is actually a really good debate.

No one draws a paycheck from the Dallas Cowboys without his approval, but let's blame his employees. That doesn't add up.

You can bet JJ would be the first one to grab the Lombardi if his team ever won another one. Credit and blame go hand in hand.

No Jerry doesn’t throw interceptions and he doesn’t not show up like this team did yesterday. At the end of the day the players have to play and have to be accountable to each other. They should be totally ashamed of that effort, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a team quit on each other the way they did and that’s a leadership problem.

That said, there is the culture aspect and this franchise has a bad, lazy, Hollywood type culture surrounding it. I believe Jerry and co perpetuate that because it adds marketing value. That’s a major problem.

Jerry doesn't scout the players. Jerry takes the excellent work that the scouting department does and makes stupid decisions with it. That's how you end up with a collection of good players who can't win when it counts.

The structural and psychological makeup of the team is unsound, because Jerry created an organization in his own image.

Find a ballhawking FS and an unblockable 3 tech. Don't overdraft TE's in the 2nd round. Don't go into the season w/ no LB's and no starting quality 3 techs and RBs'. Have better backups at OL.

Hey, Jerry insists on this job. His job is to form a super bowl contender. Having some good players that are being sabotaged w/ glaring weaknesses is what makes him a bad GM.

Jerry Jones has allowed a culture of sub par play, no discipline, no accountability for the last 28 plus years. It doesn't matter who the coach is the culture remained. The common denominator is Jerry Jones.

Of course any GM will get credit for hoisting a Lombardi Trophy, as they should. They fielded a really good team.

And if the team is devoid of talent, then the GM and Owner will always get the blame. Happens across the NFL.

And yes, if you look at all the bad teams across the NFL, the owner and GM are fielding A LOT of the criticism because of the product.

But the Cowboys have 9 All-Pro players and seasoned coaches? Is the Cowboys' product "bad"?

Since Jerry is responsible for the guy who throws interceptions, it is Jerry throwing those picks. Jerry is responsible both for the players not showing up and for the coaches who let them not show up. That is the job of a GM.

IMO, yes it is…
There seems to have been a lack of accountability since at least Bill Parcells left, and Jerry himself can’t seem to get it that as an owner, he should be leaving the team side of it all to the experts, and not himself.
Is there another owner who announces who’s playing this week or not??
Jerry is absolutely to blame…
There was something I seen on the internet back when Green Bay beat us in Dak’s rookie season… ‘Title town beats entitled ’
And that’s exactly what Jerry’s Cowboys are.
