Is it really all JJ's fault?

Of course any GM will get credit for hoisting a Lombardi Trophy, as they should. They fielded a really good team.

And if the team is devoid of talent, then the GM and Owner will always get the blame. Happens across the NFL.

And yes, if you look at all the bad teams across the NFL, the owner and GM are fielding A LOT of the criticism because of the product.

But the Cowboys have 9 All-Pro players and seasoned coaches? Is the Cowboys' product "bad"?
The Cowboys can't stop the run, have no starting quality RB's or LB's and a DLine that gets owned. Yes, it is bad.

No, it’s a valid criticism to get on jerry but the players have to show up, the coaches need to show up and the team needs to take a punch.

"The Associated Press released its NFL All-Pro teams on Friday morning, and nine players from the Dallas Cowboys landed on the two teams with CeeDee Lamb, DaRon Bland, Zack Martin and Brandon Aubrey earning first-team honors and Dak Prescott, Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith, Micah Parsons and Bryan Anger earning second-team."

So, if Jerry as GM is fielding a team of All-Pros, and he hired a "proven" defensive coordinator (Quinn) and a Superbowl-winning coach (McCarthy), in recent years, what is he doing so egregiously wrong?

Sure, he's the face of the franchise unlike other owners, but in some ways, that should be a good thing...syphoning unnecessary media attention away from the players.

And no, all of his decisions haven't panned out, but that's for every owner. Hec, many people take 1st-round QBs who become busts. Way more busts than success.

So, I ask the honest question (also asking myself because I crap all over Jerry Jones too when given the chance), what more can he do?

Yes, I think this team is overrated, but the pundits and others always tell me this team has one of the most talented rosters in the league, backed up by 9 All-Pro players, so I guess I'm wrong.

But if this team IS truly talented, and Jerry hired seasoned coaches to get this team over the top, can we really blame Jerry for all the team's woes as of late?
Talented where?

Culture rot starts at the top
And I wonder what part of the Cowboys culture is awful, and how could it be worse than when Jimmy Johnson was here and the Cowboys had a few known drug addicts as starters (Irvin, etc.), and their off-the-field shenanigans are legendary. So yes, the culture has always been a bit "loose", but that same culture won 3 Superbowls with Johnson and Switzer.

The Cowboys are more talented than Green Bay, Detroit and Houston. So what's the problem?

The walking corpse named Jerry Jones

Jerry the GM can only build the meat of the team but is clueless filling in the potatoes. It’s all flash with no substance. So, yes…..he is at fault for a lot of it.
9 All Pro players, and 4 are linemen and 1 is the kicker, and there's no substance? When you have all-pro players in the trenches, isn't that the epitome of substance?

It’s the culture. It’s walking into the Star with the shiny chandeliers, and Ritz Carlton theatrics. It’s that a guy like Ben Dinucci can market hats and be very successful. Do you really think Micah is on a Tostitos commercial, and has a podcast if he were in Cincinnati?

It’s the red carpet, and no one has done anything around there in 30 years. It’s human nature to be enamored

Drug addicts? Come on, that is insane.

Jerry Jones has allowed a culture of sub par play, no discipline, no accountability for the last 28 plus years. It doesn't matter who the coach is the culture remained. The common denominator is Jerry Jones.
He brought in Parcells. Are you saying that Parcells allowed "no discipline and no accountability"?

28 years and nothing, horrible contracts. Any other team with a franchise structure that makes sense would have fired their GM a long time ago.

You are looking at just this last year. Let’s look at the last 29 years. Never mind not even making it to the Super Bowl, they haven’t even sniffed the NFCCC game.

And every time there are any expectations for this team, they implode, year after year. They have a cultural problem and that starts with the owner.

It is nobody’s fault. That’s the core of the problem in Dallas. Nobody is held accountable bc the GM is not qualified or accountable for results.

Those are all part of the job description of the GM's duties.

Financial success comes with being a Cowboys player, I can't hold that against them. We wouldn't turn down endorsement deals, all of us would gladly accept them too.

But how does having an endorsement deal affect the quality of play? Many, many players outside of Dallas have endorsement deals...hec, look at Mahomes, Kelce and others. No one is suggesting that Mahomes struggled this year because he's on TV too much. Well, I'm sure some KC fans connect the two. ;)
