Is it time to bench McClain?

He's looked absolutely awful this season. He looks slow, fat and poorly conditioned. Those big run plays given up in the 4th, he played a big part in. He couldn't accelerate and just kept getting caught in the muck. He looks like a 275 pound DE trying to play LB. I kept seeing lanes to accelerate through and thinking he could get there, but he never did.

Now health may not allow him to be completely benched at this point depending on Lee and Hitchens status, but whenever/if those two get healthy he needs to be in a reserve role.

He's definitely not conditioned, he was sucking air hard last night.

surprised he came in heavy this year. He needed training camp. He isn't doing his chronic knee any favors with extra weight.

I think he actually gained too much muscle mass and thus body weight, he is not fat.

This will slow you down when endurance and mobility is what is needed in games.

Last year, he was much lighter and he even commented he put on more muscle mass, bad move!

This fact in addition to missing much of the off season (injury) and the first four games, explains some of issues but his mental game is suspect as well.

He's been terrible. If we had anything of note on the depth chart behind him, he'd be benched.

Our LBs as a whole have been bad. No speed, range or play making anywhere.

Can't bench everyone. He looks out of shape to me. Is he still interested in playing?

We will find out this off season .......does he he smoke weed again and get caught? if so, then I cut him.

I was surprised the brain trust brought him back after his disappearing act at the end of last season. Just too unreliable IMO.

I wasn't overly thrilled with his resigning either, but at least they were smart with the length of the financial package.

Normally I am opposed to these "bench player X" types of moves but right now McClain is a liability.

Last year he attacked. He had pop. He struck OL and RBs.

This year he is lethargic. He let's OL attack him. He literally looks like a DE playing LB.

I don't know who they have left on the roster, but I'd I'd at least give anybody on the roster a shot.

McClain is LAZY, standing still, never moving to the ball, lethargic, and then takes out both LEE and HITCHENS, yesterday - what a bozo. McClain was so awesome in 2014 and so terrible in 2015

He certainly has not looked like the same player. Slow. Not very physical at all out there. It certainly shows you cannot always account for the same performance year over year. Last year McClain and Crawford were really good. Not so much this year but their banks accounts look great!
