Is it too early to predict starting lineups?

I'll just play it safe. I'll go with the base 12 offense and the base 4-3 defense.

Offense:

QB Romo
WRs Bryant, Williams
TEs Witten, Escobar
HB Murray
LT Smith
LG Leary
OC Frederick
RG Martin
RT Free

Defense:

WDE Lawrence
3DT Melton
1DT McClain
SDE Crawford
WLB Carter
MLB Durant
SLB Wilber
CBs Carr, Claiborne
FS Wilcox
SS Church

Looks good to me.

If Romo gets hurt =

I think Hitchebs or Hollowman finds their way into the starting lineup, buy other than that it looks good

Yea, I'm not sure about having Crawford and Wilbur on the strong side: a lot of inexperience.

I think Mackenzy Bernadeau could replace Leary at LG (he is at OTA's so far). Leary should improve, but he had team-worsts in penalties (8) and pressures allowed (27) last season.

Leary took the first snaps at LG in the first practice with Martin at RG. Bernadeau took 2nd string snaps.

It's too early to predict who will be in camp. Our guys drop weekly...

Scratch out about four of them before week 1 due to injuries or unable to perform as hoped.

To answer the question.......yes, it is too early

Am I only the one who thinks these prediction threads are pointless?

You can not predict anything in the NFL and that is fact.

There will be a guy like Ryan Williams or Ben Bass that will surprise everyone, just like for every other team.

LG Leary- This is the likely place for Martin to land unless they move Mack over to the left side.
OC Frederick
RG Martin- Not sure about the Gs. Mack is pretty solid. Leary had some poor grades pass and run.
RT Free

Defense:

WDE Lawrence- Not sure here either. He'll get snaps in rotation for sure. Starting depends on his play.
3DT Melton
1DT McClain
SDE Crawford
WLB Carter
MLB Durant
SLB Wilber
CBs Carr, Claiborne
FS Wilcox
SS Church

This is pretty good esp if there aren't any injuries dictating a change. Prepare yourselves.

The fun part might be to try and guess the sub packages

Third WR Street/Beasley?
Third CB Scandrick
Fourth CB Moore, Webb?
Nickel DL Crawford, Lawrence, Melton, Selvie
COP RB Dunbar
Nickel LB Durant, Holloman
Short yardage DL McClain, Crawford, Selvie, Bishop

I think Holloman will start over Wilber on the strong side and I'm not sure Lawrence will start day 1 anywhere besides nickel.

No it's not too early. after all, it's the off season, fun to speculate, then see how you may change your thoughts during TC.
As some said, it's pointless. I disagree. Maybe someone has an opinion, but someone else has a different one as opens a discussion to why they differ. I think that's interesting enough to read as long as it's productive.
That is pretty much my thoughts on the lineup as of today, with the exception Lawrence may not get the starting spot, but will get enough snaps that it doesn't matter. Possibly the OG's can change a bit, but that's what TC is for.
I would have no problem with that to start.

So the coaches at this point should not pencil in a "predicted" starting lineup to see how and who they want to look at things in practice....just line them up with no plan and see who is left standing.

It's a message board what else can we really talk about at this point. We could start another Lee injury or Romo sucks thread if that would appease you.
