Is it too early to predict starting lineups?

Those predicting Claiborne over Scandrick, how do you suppose this happens? Are they giving him the starting job because of his draft status? I just don't see Claiborne beating out Scandrick.

Clai is a better player. Wether or not that shows up on the field is another story.

The defensive front seven is where the questions are. Assuming the health of everyone who's expected healthy for camp.

SDE Crawford/Selvie
3 tech Melton/Crawford
1 tech Mcclain/Hayden
WDE Selvie/Lawrence

With the rest fitting in where they should be. It really seems like Crawford is going to be all over the line, except WDE. I do bet they hope that Lawrence shows enough strength to play the majority of snaps at WDE by the end of the year. Selvie and the other DEs are really more strong side types.

The line backers, if I had to place a bet right now would be Wilbur at SLB, Holloman at MLB, and Carter at Will.

I think Selvie is a tweener for DE. He's not good enough to turn the corner well but he does create pressure. He's not strong enough to play the run well. I think this is why he has had some trouble sticking. For me, he is a situational pass rusher at SDE more of a backup there and at WDE. Also he needs to be put in position according to matchups with each opponent.

Crawford is going to be a very good or better SDE who can sub inside esp in the nickel.

Melton needs to return to form as the 3 and stay healthy. I'm not sure who the backup 3 will be although I suspect we will have to platoon that with Bass the first guy.

McClain is a tweener for a 1 and a 3. He's perfect for this defense which uses two 3s more often than not.

Hayden needs to pick it up some as the 1. If he's gotten stronger and quicker then he'll stick otherwise.....

Lawrence will be perfect as the rush DE/WDE. He's stronger than some here think I believe. He can bend and turn the corner.
