Is it worth paying Osa top dollar when we're going to be paying Micah soon, to go along with the top dollar deals we have for Lamb and Dak? Yes we can afford it, but is it worth all this money being tied up in so many players. Is Osa worth the top dollar he'll likely command, or are we better off just drafting his replacement? Please give your thoughts
Is itnworthnit to trust this organization to draft his replacement or get in FA

I'd go with the transition tag. It saves us around $4 million and gives us the right to match any offer.
Maybe, but I think the transition tag gets barely used for a reason. I think if you're going the transition tag route you might as well just figure out a long term deal now. It really only serves a purpose if OSA is already wanting out and wont give the Cowboys a chance to match an offer. There is nearly zero chance he doesnt get a multi year deal worth more than the transition tag would get him. I'd hit him with the franchise tag then if you want to negotiate a longer deal you take away 31 other bidders.

Plus I'm not sure the Cowboys have ever used the transition tag in team history...Typically Jerry likes to write the verbiage of his contracts. I bet the idea of letting another team write out the terms of a deal is a non starter for him.

Why would we pay top dollar for a player who's slighly above average at best, who's best suited for a rotational role?

If you think hes average I would recommend looking around the rest of the league at the interior DL play. All his metrics from this year are pretty much in line with Jalen Carter's who many think is a top 5 guy at the position right now.

So, wave a magic wand and come up with 3 dtackles.
yeah it's the hardest thing to ever do in life, we're replacing a GENERATIONAL DT in Osa, come on Rambo, you're acting like Osa was top at his position, we actually need about 3 DT's, we don't know what Mazi is going to do or gholston

You guys and this not being able to replace people stuff is wild!

everyone seems to want him back, they're saying he's a priority, anything can happen
By "everyone," do you mean the same dimwits who've been running the team lo these many years?

I get that you are saying it's likely to happen, and I agree...but that doesn't mean it should.

I don't want it to happen, I mean some on here and the front office saying "he's top priority!"

I don't disagree, but this is where I struggle with the Osa is average argument. They both have their struggles in the run game, but the sack and pressure rates are almost identical for each for both OSA and Carter. One is described as average, and the other is thought of to be a top player at his position.

Define top dollar. If that means 20/year then no. Not with how they build a roster. They need to be able to fit 2-3 DL guys in that same 20 million and honestly they may not want to spend that much.

Ain’t paying Osa $15M+ when there are multiple OSA’s in the draft this year - and, quite a few that are just as athletic, yet bigger framed guys that may be way better run defenders as well. Give me a Nolen, Harmon, Walker, Norman-Lott just to name a few. Then, guys like Grant and T. Williams seem to be both combo 1T/3T guys. So, NO TO OSA!!!!!!

one knock and not that i'm trying to bash him is that he's good at one part of the season then he kind of tapers off

Look up several posts there's people on here that feel like he can't be replaced, I don't think it's as hard as trying to replace a micah
