I’m all for signing him, but they have to dive in further and have four legit guys in a DT rotation. I honestly think the Joneses look at capital invested as opposed to what’s actually happening on the field. After a first on Mazi and a big contract to OO, thats gonna be it for DT….and we already know that’s not enough.Yes.
We need DTs. Those who can rush the passer as Osa can. But he needs a good 1-tech next to him.
We should not have paid Diggs. He was over rated and doesn't tackle and is selfish.
You don't build a team outside in plus Philly and KC paid their DTs and Philly spent a high first rounder on one.
We got stuck with Mazi
If you are going to pay market, make sure the player is worth it and Osa is notAll you guys complain about Jerry being cheap then never want to pay anyone market
So that means we aren’t signing a single tier 1 or 2 free agentIf you are going to pay market, make sure the player is worth it and Osa is not
No. Osa is going to want top market value from the Cowboys. Sometimes players do this even when they know they are going to make less elsewhere. Similar to what Dalton Shultz did. QBs are way more successful with this tactic, other players, not so much.Is it worth paying Osa top dollar when we're going to be paying Micah soon, to go along with the top dollar deals we have for Lamb and Dak? Yes we can afford it, but is it worth all this money being tied up in so many players. Is Osa worth the top dollar he'll likely command, or are we better off just drafting his replacement? Please give your thoughts
He’s good but not a difference maker so don’t overpay. Kind of like their QB but that ship sailed.
Garret is already under contract for the next two years with Cleveland. His Salary in 2025 is $1.255 million but he is due a $5 million roster bonus. So his new team takes on those numbers but Cleveland keeps his pro-rated bonuses against their CAP. Garrett's new team would have a CAP his of either $6.255 million, or $3 million depending on whether they convert his roster bonus to a signing bonus and pro-rate it over the nest 4 years.Go get miles Garrett if you are going to pay top dollar
Kind of a fine line to walk. He way overpaid Crawford ewrly thinking he would be a great player.Typical Jerry....why did we let Osa get to this point. Super Star? No; best DT on the team? Yes. He should have been signed to an extension last summer or during the season, give him a nice bonus from all that cap space we carried, and get him signed for much less than we are going to have to pay now. Jerry lets too many core players get to free agency and then must pay top dollar.
We are already in dire need of help at DT. Letting Osa go to another team will make us even weaker. Unless you want to be playing multiple rookies at DT next year like we did along the OL this year.
Just because the market claims one player is worth it does not mean you pay that playerSo that means we aren’t signing a single tier 1 or 2 free agent
Free agency by nature is a high risk endeavor and you pay players above what you want to
Quit speaking both sides out of your mouth
HE turned 29 in December so he is not quite as old as you claim. I would go after him; but he wants a SB and no one with a brain thinks we are close to that.Garret is already under contract for the next two years with Cleveland. His Salary in 2025 is $1.255 million but he is due a $5 million roster bonus. So his new team takes on those numbers but Cleveland keeps his pro-rated bonuses against their CAP. The real issue with acquiring Garrett will be the asking price. What if Cleveland wants 2 first round picks. You still want him? He has 2 years on his contract, and he is 30 years old. What would you be willing to give up for him? He is probably going to be more productive than any DE in this draft at least for the next two years. It solves a major need and gives Dallas someone opposite Micah to take the double teams away from Micah. But I think it will take more than a 1st round pick to pry him away from Cleveland.
I think the Eagles and Washington will both be in the mix to acquire him. The Cowboys have the advantage because our picks are worth more than theirs by round.
You don't pay top dollar for good , not great players. Is it worth paying Osa top dollar when we're going to be paying Micah soon, to go along with the top dollar deals we have for Lamb and Dak? Jerry ... that is why ...Why would we pay top dollar for a player who's slighly above average at best, who's best suited for a rotational role?
Post of the dayYou don't pay top dollar for good , not great players.
That has gotten us in trouble in the past.
This "We like our guys" mentality has got to go !
Top 30 UFALike the guy, but he's not worth a higher contract.
I'm waiting to see what he's going to command, but it's on the FO for not securing him earlier for a reasonable cost.
Can't keep going forward losing role players. He's definitely a guy you want to keep.
Osa isn't better than Malik.I am really curious to see what kind of contract he gets. I don't think he is a top DT. I think he is a very solid DT. But Maliek Collins got $11.5 million from SF. Osa is better than Maliek. Is Osa worth $17 million? I feel like that's what he is going to get, at least.
Milton Williams is a free agent as well. I think Williams is going to be a better DT. My guess is the Eagles will try to re-sign him, but because he is behind Carter and Davis, he might get less money, and also look for a place he can start. He is a starter in Dallas, and maybe a star.
