Don't you know that Jerry, in his infinite wisdom, refused to trade Martellus for a first round pick, because he knew Witten was on the decline!

Witten has had a very poor season by his standards. He's on pace to have by far the worst yards per catch of any full season in his career. He has one touchdown. He isn't making any big plays down the seam like he has throughout his career. In fact, he's making about as many negative plays for us as good ones these days. It could be a blip, but something is definitely wrong with him this year. He's young chronologically, but this is his seventh NFL season, and the hits are adding up. I wonder if he's already on the down side of his career.

What exactly was emotional about this post? It is based on statistics.

Packers had Woodson on Witten all day -- it's a testament to Witten that the Packers put maybe the best CB on him as opposed to one of the Cowboy's WRs. The Packers obviously decided Witten wasn't going to be the one to beat them today.

The numbers certainly suggest it's possible Witten is in decline. As mentioned, he entered the league at an abnormally young age, so even though he is just 27, he has played as many snaps as a guy who is pushing 30. He isn't getting free down the middle of the field like he used to. While never a great guy after the catch, he has no ability in that department whatsoever now.

It is pretty obvious they are using him a bit differently this year. Keeping him in a bit more to block and help protect Romo then they did in the past.

You can't be serious?
He definitely doesn't look like the Witten we're used to seeing. I dunno if its him, if its the playcalling or if its Romo though.

I wouldn't say "very poor", but he is definetely not as dominant as he was. Of course teams are keying on him more since TO left, but I agree.....He is not quite himself.

Yep, I love Witten but lately he has had some issues not usual to his game, I will be honest about the matter.
