Im not excited in the least at this point about the competition from Heath and some scrub we signed at a bargain. Are you excited about it?

There are things that might excite me about this team. If we draft a safety with starting potential, that would be one of them. I can't honestly claim Heath to be one that particularly "excites" me, although I'd be greatly encouraged if he proved to be a pleasant surprise in TC. That's the gist of it.

He definitely deserves a chance.never understood the hate on the young man.

Because he was a liability several years back. I admit he has come a long way and would like to see how he responds. He might go into the bucket some players may need 3-4 years to fully develop.

If we draft a safety with one of the first two picks, then I would be excited about that. Nothing about Heath excites me or any other safety they might have signed.

I can tell you that Jones, although seems solid in coverage, he doesnt appear to be a ball hawking safety. So the other safety has to be in my opinion. But seeing as though we need Dline and corner in the worst way, I would have to say I would be disappointed if we didnt take those postions with the first 3 picks.

Heath is a joke my man, plain and simple. He has done NOTHING here. And no I dont consider a pick in GB as anything special. Right place, right time.

13-3 is aweful? LOL

I guess when you cant win an argument, you just make stuff up eh?

Claiborne was playing all world when he was healthy. Hell yah, I would risk a few million on that.

LOL...........every time Heath steps on the field he makes a play? ahahahahahaha!!!!

Wow, now that was funny. So tell me...............Then why hasnt Heath started the last 4 or 5 years if he is sooo great. He couldnt even beat out the hapless Wilcox? Please enlighten me.

Actually dont bother, I dont want to wake you up from your fantasy.

LOL at you saying I'm living in a fantasy because I think Heath can be a starter when you're the one thinking that Mo was playing at an all world level. SMDH.

That shows me everything I need to know about your evaluation of secondary players.

As always, much will depend upon who is available when our turn comes up. If we don't see anyone who looks especially appealing in the first and second rounds, I could see where there's a place for a promising safety to be taken. Granted, a safety would also be about #3 on my wish list. I'm also hoping a RT comes into play around the 4th round or so.

Im all for taking the best defensive player at ever pick in the first 4 rounds. UNless there is some cant miss pro offensive player and no good defensive player in sight.

Oh yah, he is a pro bowler in the making. WE just had him playing behind scrubs like Wilcox because we wanted to surprise everyone. LOL

YOu gotta love this time of year when all the happy go lucky fans try to make pro bowlers out of scrubs.
I mention giving him a shot and you say i'm calling him a future pro bowler??????? Miles Austin was on the bench until the KC game and that turned out positive...

LOL..... PFF grading and facts do not go hand in hand.

Your theory just went out the window pal. Clearly PFF is better then you. And clearly my assessment is as well.

You wouldnt even need PFF if you just watched the games last year. When healthy, Claiborne was a borderline shut down corner.

And your hero heath was sooo bad, that he couldnt even beat out the hapless JJ Wilcox over the last 4 years. Talk about pathetic.

Yah, and how many years was Austin on the bench? 4? 5? I think not.

And even if one guy in a million actually turned into a pro bowler, so that is why you think Heath will? Talk about weak.

Most of those here see improvement in his play in recent years. I see no harm in allowing him to compete for a starters role when nobody else appears remotely ready to step into that role. In the event that a promising draftee comes into the mix, I'm certain there's going to be competition to win a starting role as a safety, whether it's immediate or otherwise.

Totally agree. I do think we sign a Safety and then draft another one but Jeff Heath continues as a "he is what he is" player that is a good backup and very good special teams player.

Another point is that Barry Church was a similar player, a UDFA who was a backup and ST guy that Dallas signed to an extension. He became a marginal starter, then a solid starter and then a team captain that earned a big contract elsewhere.

I doubt Jeff Heath ends up starting for us, but that's more about our drafting and cap space compared to past years.

Than*

I've only ever said that Heath could be a starter and that he makes plays when he's on the field. You're the one hyping a scrub as an all world player.

Claiborne is a injury prone disappointment that finally showed what he could do last year if he stayed healthy. Top 10 cornerback when he was healthy. If we could resign him for a few million on a one year contract and give him another shot to do that I am all for it. Big money no way.

Heath has been a special teams guy that was never good enough to start behind sub par starters the last 4 or 5 years.

Those are the facts.

The ONLY way heath is ever starter is if they sign no one and he wins it by default. And no, he barely ever makes plays when he is on the field.

I hope Heath is starter quality because it looks like he's about to get a whole lot more minutes.

And Claiborne was a very good CB last year when healthy. Granted, that's the problem. Can he stay healthy.

Yes, that's why there was such a huge market for "top 10 CB" Morris Claiborne in free agency. I think Heath should have played more last year, not necessarily start, but played more. At least other teams thought the guys ahead of him were good players and were scooped up relatively quickly. Meanwhile, the guy you're touting as all world is sitting on a couch.

This just reminds me of Alan Ball, Keith Davis, Pat Watkins etc. and people trying to convince themselves that he is capable of the job.
