Is Marion Barber the best runningback in the NFL?

So far he's been in the important side of the NFL charts.

Marion Barber is third (3rd) in the NFL in Rushing Touchdowns

and

Marion Barber is twelveth (12th) in the NFL in Average and most of the runningbacks that's ahead isn't even starters and haven't had that many carries.

Granted that is some good stats, however, how does that equate to #1 RB?

Just imagine if he is starting with the rushing average that he has. He could out do Ladanian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, and Brain Westbrook and I also believe he would have alot more touchdowns than the top backs in the NFL. He averages more than Tiki Barber who leads the NFL in rushing yards.

We have a weapon that's not even starting. Julius Jones and Marion Barber is the best one-two punch in the NFL. Cause on Julius Jones best day he could outdo any top runningback out there.

Yeah and troy hambrick had a 5.1 ypc average too...

NEXT!!!!

running on third and long and picking up 12 yards pads stats.

IM NOT SAYING BARBER IS HAMBRICK. what I am saying is consistently trying to run with barber will not produce the same results we get from JJ.

If no one has noticed I have seen julius CARRY lineman for a couple extra yards multiple times this year.

that guy churns his legs too. he just isnt as violent.

mb3 is playing very well, but the 3rd down rb gets to pad his stats on those 3rd and 20 and you run a draw for 12 yds.i think he could start for lots of teams and would be a good rb.the best? i don't think so

A combo of Ladanian Tomlinson and a scrub would be better than Jones and Barber. And I really like Jones and Barber, but LT is just that good. Now San Diego does not have a scrub as a back up. They have a pretty darn good runner in Michael Turner.

Another pretty good combo is Corey Dillon and Lawrence Maroney in New England. I would say they are equal to what Dallas has right now.

A lot of people wanted to cut him after the Seattle pre-season game last year.

When Bennett is healthy, I'm not sure you can top KC's group. Right now, we're in a similar spot as Denver.

Lots of good RB tandems out there. ATL, WAS, NY, all have nice 1-2 punches.

He reminds me of Jim Brown ;)

He's at least tied as the league's top back. I'd rank Julius Jones up there with him. ;)

In all seriousness, I love this duo we have. Whenever one is in the game, I don't want to see them leave. Then, the other comes in and I don't want to see him leave.

Barber has emerged into one of the league's top backups. The Hambrick reference was mentioned. While I think Barber is a superior back, I, too, wonder how he would be if he were playing every down. Would he be as tough on a run-by-run basis?

You know what, though? Who cares? Because in his current role, he's an absolute beast to take down and makes the most of every carry.

On a corny note, what I liked was seeing Julius lead the cheering charge on the sideline when Barber got his second TD. Julius could have very well -- maybe even understandably -- been frustrated he wasn't in there to get his 100 yards. But he wasn't.

Barber has done very well but Dallas brings him in when we are in the redzone so that is going to give him more chances to get the TD. As for runs per carry again that is misleading when talking about a guy getting 10 carries as opposed to a back getting 25 carries. Dallas in my opinion is using both Jones and Barber in the correct manner and I see no reason to change that.

that 2nd td was impressive! he dragged the defender from the 7 to the endzone.

That was a big time run and loved the hardnose running style he shows. You need that when your down by the endzone.

I would like to see Barber the featured back just for 1 game to see how he runs the entire game. Just for 1, because I actually think he may be a gem.

He has when Jones has missed time. I think the guy is a very good back but I also think Jones is as well and feel fortunate to have 2 backs like we have

The heck with that.

Marion will turn out to be the best RB to ever play the game of professional football.

He will make all other records and RBs before him look like pimples on the butt of humanity once he is done.

There now when others come in and see this thread they should be able to tell from the extreme sarcasm that we think the original post is nuts.:D
