Is Matt Jones getting cut on June 1st?

The Jags could have already cut him and given him a June 1 designation. The nfl has pretty much made that date useless so that players can be cut earlier and have a better chance as a free agent.

I've tried to remain optimistic about Glenn but I'm beginning to worry he won't be here. I wish we had some real information about his knee.

I don't know about Austin. I don't have a good feel about his talent other than he's very fast.

Don't have a good feel for Matt either. My guess is he just needs more time. He has the tools, size and speed. Not sure he has the ability. A lot has been made of his 'attitude'. It was strange and the same in college. Very laid back but he always seemed to try on the field.

yea Leonard Davis stunk till he got on a winning team too.Jones can play he just wasnt given the chance cause from what i read he hates playing there.

They signed Jerry Porter and traded for Troy Williamson fro Minnesota.

i think what nfl teams are waiting for, is this;

most nfl teams are like blood hounds, once they get the scent that your thinking about releasing a player or the thought process of trading him, teams will wait you out now and almost get the player for nothing

just like the situation with jason taylor in miami, they tried trading him for a # 1 pick or # 2 pick during the draft, best they could get is a 4th from jacksonville

so now teams are waiting, they know that parcells and taylor are in a squable, so they are waiting, same thing with matt jones; there were rumors of the jacs releasing him at end of the year or trading him,

just look at the wr they got from the vikings, williamson, he was a # 1 draft pick and all the vikes could get for him was a 7th round pick best i remember;

so, teams are going to wait out the jacs,

bad hands, lousy route runner, lousy work ethic, no talent for the position

even IF he made the team, it'd be as the 5th WR at best probably...he isnt worth wasting a roster spot on

I would counter with this.

You stated yourself, the "receivers in Jacksonville stink".

All of them "stink."

Why is that?

Maybe because they're all getting lousy coaching?

Maybe they're all stuck in a lousy offense with subpar quarterback play?

The way I look at it is this:

Why do some consider Matt Jones a "bust"?

Because he was drafted in the first round.

Who's fault is that?

Not his.

It's the Jaguars' fault for reaching for a project making a positional switch to receiver.

It's the Jags' fault for drafting a guy projected as a 3rd or 4th rounder in the 1st round, not Jones'.

If he was drafted where he should have been, the expectations would not have been as great and the "bust" label wouldn't be getting used.

He's firmly entrenched in Del Rio's doghouse and a change would be best for both parties.

Jones just turned 25 years old and I think a great coach like Sherman could work wonders with him.

Davis was a FAR better player in Arizona than Matt Jones has ever been

it isnt even remotely comparable

Davis has talent, Jones doesnt
