well i will say this, matt jones i am not sure about, i know he has great measurables, 6-6 240 i think with 4.38 in 40, former QB

seems like to me though, as good as the jacs were last year, that matt jones would step forward to help his teammates

but you have to keep things in perspective too, the WR situation in jacksonville may not be great, so matt jones could be another player like jay novacheck or leonard davis that left the cardinals, just needs new good scenery and another opportunity

but with jacksonville being good last year, still seems like matt jones would have stepped up to the plate, so im just not sure, but hey

always keep your options open and look at players, thats how we got players from other teams like preston pearson, jay novachek, leonard davis, to name a few players;

say matt jones is a player that needs a new scenery and good wr's coach, and he could learn from T O too, you could get him at a cheap price and help your team in the long run if he is any good;

He hasn't exactly had great mentors to learn from, which is what you need when you are learning an entirely new position. I am neither for or against him coming to Dallas, but I do think he has the tools to be good. I remember him having a good games against us two years ago in the opener that we lost.

bad hands, lousy route runner, lousy work ethic, no talent for the position

even IF he made the team, it'd be as the 5th WR at best probably...he isnt worth wasting a roster spot on

David

Seriously?

Other than Owens obviously, who would you put on that list as better?

Is he really anything more than just another developmental WR?

He doesn't add all that much to the roster IMO.

Didn't Jacksonville get the WR from the Vikings?

Williamson?

People are actually advocating picking up a WR who is supposed to be replaced by Troy Williamson?

I've seen him play some. And he can. He also disappears. If Del Rio is unhappy with him the next question is why. I have a lot of respect for Del Rio.

Anyone and everyone.

Why would they cut him?

Williamson is very, very fast, gets open, gets separation, and then drops the ball too often. You probably can work on that. Probably. That's why he's in Jax.

You cut the guys who you know aren't going to help you in the coming season. I don't think Jacksonville has completely determined that with Matt Jones. But if you look at their roster, there is a good chance that they ultimately decide to go with other options and cut him loose later.

If that does happen, I do wonder how much interest Dallas would have? He certainly has athleticism and ability, but that doesn't do anybody much good if it isn't put to use.

If nothing else, he got a size/speed ratio than few can match.

6'6" with a 4.4 forty time.

He is still developing, but he's got good physical ability and could provide a nice red zone target as well.

Envision Jones getting on-on-one matchups playing opposite Owens and Witten. I don't know of too many teams with 6'3" corners, much less 6'6".

He's there because Mike Tice is there.

Tice is the guy who drafted him in Minnesota.

Definitely true, there's the possibility that he doesn't have the work ethic to be great.

But, that's a worst-case scenario. And what would it cost the Cowboys to find out? A 6th or 7th round draft pick? Miles Austin's roster spot?

Those are two things I would be willing to give up to find out.

If nothing else, he's already shown the ability to be a team's #2 or #3 receiver.

With a better surrounding cast, and better coaching, I think he could be more than that.

I got your back, stash.

No, Jones isn't great. Yes, he's been something of a bust.

But it's not like he'd be trying to crack the top three of the Colts, either.

I read that Williamson is looking very good in their camp. Who knows how that translates, but Williamson supposedly had a vision problem that might have affected him catching passes. If that is taken care of, then Jacksonville did well for themselves.

I'll say this, it doesn't hurt to take a look at talent. Best case, they realize their gifts. Worst case, you got an up-close look and you let them walk. For minimal risk, it's just smart business.

Names?

Put some effort into bashing him.

Are you unfamiliar with the WR roster?

Go look at the roster from last year and I'll take any of those WR over Jones.

Basically, hes competing with all the undrafted rookies and PS players from last year.

And once again. Why are the Jags going to cut him?

Thanks buddy!

Again, I picture the risk/reward scenario:

What would it cost to get Jones?

Not much.

What could he possibly bring to this team?

Potentially something very good.

If not, what did it cost to look?

The same 'not much'.

Beats playing the odds that Terry Glenn is yer man......

I'm plenty familiar. I just hoped you'd actually name the players you thought were better.

You'd prefer Austin? Hurd? Stanback with his zero career catches?

OK.

I wouldn't.

From what I know, he's in Del Rio's doghouse because he doesn't like the way Jones practices. And I think Jacksonville is frustrated with his current progress as a receiver.

He doesnt exactly have John Elway back there tossing the rock either.Leftwich then Gerrard who mostly throws 5 yard patterns.I have watched jones on multiple occasions and when he is in the game he does well and has an ultimate reach for the ball, its sick and he is very fast.
