Im kinda on the fence with this one. I wouldnt mind him on the team because i do think he has raw talent, but damn how many players aer we going to develop.

I would propose that Jones could take Austin's roster spot.

Is that such a stretch to claim Jones would be an improvement over Miles Austin?

Could Jones not at least be the team's #3/speed receiver?

If Glenn is done as some (including me) think, this team could use some speed opposite Owens.

The way I look at it, if T.O. got hurt, would you rather have Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd starting games for you? We'd probably have the two most pedestrian starters in the league.

Everyone knows Jones has his issues, but at least he's played in a lot of NFL games, started a few, and you do have to respect his speed somewhat.

Now if we knew T.O. would stay healthy, I doubt Jones would do us much good. But Owens will be 35 and like Parcells said, it's a contingency business.

Amazing what Jones can do when he actually plays and the quarterback looks his way....

How'd Crayton do as Dallas' go-to guy when TO was sidelined last year?

Anyone know?

Stash these folks will be crying if he goes somewhere else with a good qb and plays well which chances he will.If T.O. gets hurt we are finished completely.

Yeah, can you say 8 in the box?

Exactly, I'm not talking about Chad Johnson, Blodin, or Roy Williams here but none of those can be gotten. I'm talking about a guy who can.

I think Jones could make an impact with the man coverage he's bound to get opposite Owens or Witten.

If nothing else, his speed could stretch the field similar to how Alvin Harper did for Irvin. Harper was never a great route runner either.

Well, the 'speed' ingredient would certainly be lacking......

Like I said, can you say 8 in the box?

yeah i see where you coming from, but i thought that Stanback was suppose to step in this year. But yeah, i think he will be an upgrade over Austin actually....

I hope that Stanback steps up - we all do.

But I'd like to have another option if he doesn't.

Anybody know if he contributes much of anything on special teams?

If nothing else, he got a size/speed ratio than few can match.

6'6" with a 4.4 forty time.

He is still developing, but he's got good physical ability and could provide a nice red zone target as well.

Envision Jones getting on-on-one matchups playing opposite Owens and Witten. I don't know of too many teams with 6'3" corners, much less 6'6".

All of that is why he got drafted in the first round Stash. I wouldn't be upset to have him. But why the problems in Jax.

I don't know, but I bet it would be pretty much nothing. Which is another big problem with him.

But I don't expect Austin to do much either once Felix is returning KOs. And I think Stanback can be as good as Austin.

And speaking of Stanback, if he came on like gangbusters at WR and the coaches really loved him, all bets are off. But that's a lot to ask of a guy who's never caught an NFL pass.

I mentioned earlier that he's in Del Rio's doghouse, presumably due to practice habits.

I would add that what receiver hasn't had 'problems' in Jacksonville lately?

I don't hang everything on Matt Jones.

Dallas would get 'first round' ability at a 6th round price.

And the kid just turned 25 years old.

I can't argue with it. You know more about him anyway. Whose roster spot goes with him here? Or who are the WRs?

All the physical talent in the world but is lazy. He got his money on his rookie contract and frankly has not shown much. Unless he gets motivated he will never amount to anything.
With a WR it all comes down to catching the ball. Which is where Austin fails. Jones seems to have some of the same problems. You can teach some tecnique to getting better at catching, but I have never heard of any WR that was not good at catching the ball coming in ever becoming REALLY good at it. You either can or you can't.
