I don’t believe so. Last year was a perfect storm. All bad, but he got to see not only our starters in action, but every single player on our roster. He now knows more about them all than any HC in a regular year. He can let go the pretenders and focus not only on picking up starters in F.A. and the draft, but also replacing the dead weight on the depth of the team as well.

We are going to be much better.

What does any of this matter besides the fact that we were 1-3 before the injuries? Stop making injury excuses.

Ya'll act like we were lighting the league on fire before Dak broke his leg lol

So every team that starts out 1-3 never make the playoffs. Yes the Cowboys were the first team to go 0-2 and win a Super Bowl, but there have teams that started 1-3 or 2-5 that turned things around and made the playoffs so your argument that the Cowboys were 1-3 before Prescott got injured is just the excuse you use to whine. Oh, starting in week 2 the Cowboys defense was terrible but starting in week 1 Prescott was on pace to not just break the single season passing record but shatter it and then he got injured and the passing game dropped off to average at best but they still had that defense.

Russell Wilson was on pace to break the single season TD record too. He finished 15 TDs short.

I was on pace to win the mega millions lottery. I had one number then missed all the other ones, but I was on pace to win.

Should he be? IMO yes. Will he be?? No. Outside of complete implosion, he's at the helm to start 2022. A bad season this yr does make for a really hot 2022 seat, but always assumed he'd get at least 3 of his 5 contract yrs

Love how this Dak jock sniffers still keep bringing up about on pace to break a season record after just three games. Small sample size and then increase it at the same rate for the rest of the season. What a crock. Get real and stop living in fantasy island. Get over it, he got his big contract so stop pumping him up again like he is a future HOF.

I don’t see how anyone with a guaranteed contract of probably over $8M/year for 5 years is on a hot seat.

Fire the guy today and he collects $32M and doesn’t even have to get out of bed for the next 4 years.

Nice gig, if you can get it.

Them Dallas Prescott fans are a wild bunch.

Remember when the once proud Cowboys fan base cared more about wins then they did players that are 7-18 in the last 4 years against teams with a wining record? My how far the fan base has fallen.

To a point, for sure. That doesn’t mean super bowl or bust. But you cannot have another dumpster fire season. You will not get a free pass due to covid or injuries. Find a way to be competitive and be a real playoff contending team at years end. And being a 7-10 team in a crap division does not equate real playoff contender. Win 9 games minimum or I’d have to be looking into upgrades.

Yeah, my view, as well.

The Cowboys were a badly coached team last year. There's no shining that turd. Poor judgment in game as well as poor judgment in terms of what they tried to implement defensively. For the people who believed that Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers were responsible for any success had by Mike McCarthy in Green Bay, last season didn't do much to alter that viewpoint.

All that being said, the head coach is far from the biggest problem with the Cowboys. And that problem isn't going anywhere.

Here's the difference, Prescott got injured so he wasn't able to shatter the record. Come back with something other than your whining.

I won't put McCarthy on the hot seat unless things don't improve in 2021 with a healthy Dak, a healthy offensive line, and a defense that actually plays NFL level football at least some of the time.

If Dallas gets any two out of the three next year and still can't win at least 9 or 10 games, it may be the end of the McCarthy regime.

Not at all....2020 was a mulligan for him, unfortunately with the limited offseason and then the corresponding extremely bad luck in injuries, he never really had a chance.

as long as he shows a positive trend this year he has at worst 3 years including this one

We forget who the GM/ owner of this team is. Jerry will never admit this soon he made a bad hire. So to answer your question. Is he on the hot seat? Well if the sucks again and he keeps making the crazy bad decisions he made last year than a normal organization may put him on the hot seat... But things are different here in Jerry world..... The few things that really really scare me about McCarthy is the hire of Mike Nolan and his idea of trying to completely change a defensive scheme without any camp etc. That scares me a lot how maybe out of touch he really is. Also some of his on field decisions were extremely questionable. So yes yes he def deserves another chance with hopefully a full camp...however his leash should be a lot shorter than it will be will Jerry on charge. I wish him all the luck in the world and I want him to succeed but wow did he scare me a lot with the things he did last year.
