He needs to show improvement. Period.
Jerry viewed Jason like a relative because of his long relationship with Jim Garrett.....MM isn't viewed the same way.If Jason Garrett was NEVER on the hot seat, how can McCarthy be? Jerry didn't even fire JG, he just didn't re-sign him. Sheesh.
That might be a little harsh. But we definitely need to see progress .
I agree, I didnt see anything but negatives from MM last year.He should be, imo.
There's no point in wasting time on him if he continues to make bone head decisions that costs us games.
This man couldn't win enough games with Aaron Rodgers as his QB to keep his job. So, why wait?
Also, I just wish Jerry would hire a big name college coach instead of these old timers that have been passed around the league. The last time the doofus in charge hired a big time college coach he started a dynasty.
Nope barring massive injury problems again Id say nfccg or go. Just cut the dead weight

So, has anything changed ? Are our expectations still the same as last year ?
How do we measure whether McCarthy is getting the most out of the talent base we have . The talent we thought should be taking us further than it did in 2019 and 8-8.
The man didn't have any players last year due to injuries. And w/his starting quarterback out, he did pretty darn well w/the hand he was dealt. He needs to show improvement. Period.
Injuries including Daks devastating season ending pretty well saved our HC from being held directly accountable for a disappointing year.
Instead with a poor defensive year after several personnel moves losing starters to FA and signing others in FA , the personal moves and coaching schemes was a total failure. Hence a coaching change on defense.
Now that Dak has been signed and our franchise QB is secured our expectations should be back to where they were when we decided this team was under achieving with the base of talent they had.
It’s why we brought in a proven HC like McCarthy because we believed this team should be advancing further and expected to win now.

The no offseason excuses gets me every time. No team had an offseason. No team had preseason games. That's a very poor argument. There are things McCarthy did last season that I wasn't crazy about but I also understand with no off season and no preseason games and a new coaching staff and then throw on all the injuries to starters and that's why the Cowboys had the year they did. As far as saying McCarthy with Rodgers and he got fired is a load of crap. EVERY team has player turnover and he wasn't the GM so he had to use what he was given.. He also in his 13 years as the packers head coach went to the playoffs 9 of those years, 8 of them in a row and winning a Super Bowl also 3 other NFC championship games with Rodgers. The only coach that did better during that same time period was Belichick. Again McCarthy did some things that I was crazy about last season but he also was playing against a stacked deck.

Now, many look for excuses. The no offseason excuses gets me every time. No team had an offseason. No team had preseason games.
The injury excuse. We were 1-3 BEFORE the major injury's to the starters happened.
I bet Jerry thinks the same way you do. That's probably how Garrett was able to waste a decade of Cowboys fans lives. Jerry every offseason was probably like "ya know, if Romo didn't get hurt we would've went 9-7 instead of 8-8. That's not Garretts fault. We should give him another couple years".
Good coaches overcome injuries. Remember when Brady missed a season and the Pats still won 11 games? Remember when Brees got hurt 2 years ago and they won every game he missed (included beating us)? Good caoches win games when everything isn't going right.
When did Cowboys fans become so accepting of mediocrity? I remember when this fanbase was proud and expected excellence out of their team.
The FO has got to convince themselves somehow that they're not wrong, right? Now, many look for excuses.
The real problem is that's what the FO does as well.
