Id say most likely if we cut carr & claiborne is still hurt even if we draft a CB first round peanut will still probably be a cowboy for atleast the first quarter of the season before he gets hurt & the rookie gets semi adjusted

It has a little to do with Tillman...

Not even a little bit. Ball wasn't signed to replace Tillman or anyone else. More likely to provide depth as the Bears prepare for the draft.

Tillman is still rehabbing. I imagine after that's done, then that's when he and the Bears will talk his future.

I love when people make unequivocal, authoritative comments when they have very little idea about what they speak. You realize that Chicago has a new defensive coordinator (Vic Fangio), will be switching from a 4-3 Tampa 2 defense (that fit Tillman), to a 3-4 press man defense (that fits Ball)? Actually, I'm sure you did not realize that before posting. Maybe read up a little first next time...

Tillman can still ball, dude has much game even @ 34. Beautiful "would be" move, vision and feel for the game off the charts, wouldn't have to carry the secondary but he is a leader.

I agree. Which is why I rarely speak without knowing what I'm talking about. lol I follow the NFL as close as I do the Cowboys. Maybe you should try a little reading comprehension to go with that snark. Bears acquisition of Ball has nothing to do with whether they bring back Alan Ball. He signed a one year deal, not some multi-year, franchise level deal. There are no reports ruiling out a return for Peanut just because of the regime change. They need bodies. They need depth.

Charles Tillman hints at return to Bears for '15 season

Now that the Chicago Bears have placed Charles Tillman on season-ending injured reserve with a torn triceps, the question is whether the venerable cornerback will return for a 13th season in 2015.

Tillman suggested in a statement Monday that retirement is not on his mind after tearing the same triceps for the second time in 10 months.

"I appreciate the kind words of encouragement and support from all the Bears fans who have reached out to me," Tillman said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. "I know this feeling way too well, but this isn't the end of the road for me.

Lance Briggs and Charles Tillman both want to return to the Chicago Bears
By Lester A. Wiltfong Jr.@wiltfongjr on Jan 30, 2015,

last year Charles Tillman ended the season on injured reserve for the Chicago Bears for the second consecutive time. After the 2013 season, the Bears felt he was rehabbed enough to help them out for another year, so they gave the 32 year old a 1 year deal. This off season, coming off another triceps injury, and another year older, the decision to bring Tillman back rests on an entirely new regime.

Tillman is "excited" about the direction of the Bears franchise now that Fox replaced Marc Trestman as head coach and now that Vic Fangio has replaced Mel Tucker as defensive coordinator. At some point in the near future a decision will be made in regards to bringing back the 12 year veteran for a 13th season, but if it were up to Tillman, he'd be back.

"I feel good," Tillman said. "Rehabbing, but I feel awesome, like I'm ready to go."

"Yeah, I'd like to be in Chicago," Tillman said. "I'm feeling good, feel great. I've been there 12 years. It would be 13 now. I don't know. We'll see what happens.

I doubt Claiborne will be ready game one anyways. Might as well bring him in. I wouldn't be surprised to see white take claibornes spot before this season is over.

strictly as veteran depth... why not.

Thanks for the September 2014 and January 2015 articles where Tillman, not the team, says he wants to come back. I stand completely corrected. Please let me know if you are available to represent me if I ever need a lawyer or agent...

Dallas hasn't signed a FA over 30 in a couple of years, so I think I can say with much certainty we are not signing him. If anything they will get younger at CB not older.

It would just be a stop gap to give any rookie time

I suspect if a CB is drafted it will be early, and he will be expected to play, and even if he is not, Dallas won't be signing a 34 year old CB coming off injury as a stop gap.

I'd be willing to move on to the young guys, but the FO has always been reluctant to trust them.

If we moved on from Carr we would have Scandrick, Draft Pick, Patmon, White and maybe Claiborne. If we don't plan spending the Carr money anywhere else they might as well keep him.

No thank you. Peanut had a great run but it's over. Skew young as the team has been doing.

this is a ridiculous suggestion. this is still the sign someone just because they have a known name approach.
