Andy Reid would figure out how to get Pollard the ball out in space with LBs trying to cover him

It's an interesting question for sure. RB tag was $9.5MM last year may go up slightly for next season, but not an unreasonable amount for a 1 year deal.

I wouldn't be against it, but I think this team pretty seriously needs to consider a 3rd/4th round RB pick in the upcoming draft. Unless he signs a new deal for less money Zeke is gone either next year or the following for sure, and Pollard seems like a risky long term investment. He be what 28 or so after next year. Granted he doesn't have a ton of wear and tear for an RB that old we know how quick they can deteriorate. The time to start looking for the next RB or RB tandem for this team is now.

- And keep in mind, Pollard does not blitz block well

-.Even as a part timer, He'll still keep us limited in that capacity, in fear or whiffing blocks or getting ran over.

- And thanks to Kellen Moore - he is still not an accomplished receiving factor threat in the pass game.

I think we need to suck it up and feel the sting of letting him go and draft a replacement in the mid rounds. Just can't FT a part-time player, that money needs to go elsewhere. It may also net us one of those comp picks we love so much.

Spend the money on the O line and D line.

Agreed. Another reason I would be happy to keep Pollard on a 1 year deal without a long term commitment. He's going to kind of be the Dalton Schultz situation they had this year. He has a role, and typically it isnt an issue to overpay a guy for 1 year. If another team wants to give him 3-4 years of top RB money let them. I love what Pollard brings to this team, but he is too limited to be your RB1.

Bijan Robinson...I wouldn't use a first-round pick on him unless we're picking 20-32...

I'm now in the camp of not drafting RBs with 1st rd picks.
I'm not drafting RBs in first round unless we feel they are generational backs.

Bijan Robinson now can look like what Steelers RB Nejee Harris did look like at Alabama,.

I'm not for drafting any Robinson's ..Nejee Harris ....or Chiefs Clyde Edwards Helaire with any 1st round picks. ..

I think we’ll lose him in a bidding war this off-season unless he’s franchised. But paying him franchise tag may be too rich.
Let him walk and use the comp pick on his replacement. Gives you 4 years on a rookie deal.

^^this.....I think at least one comes back and we draft one. I'd love to see what TP can do as a full-time starter

I think OP is placing too high a price tag on TP at the moment. Cowboys should cut or big paycut Zeke, re-sign Pollard, and draft a RB.

Normally I would say no way ...... But these morons franchised an average tightend so there is no telling what they will do.

Tony has become our best running back this season and is pretty indispensable as long as our passing game is below average.

I think Zeke stays next season because we’d only save 5 million on the cap cutting him. Cutting him after next season is more realistic.

I’d franchise Tony next season and explore a multi year deal once Zeke is cut after next season. Is that too much resources dedicated to RB? I think losing Tony next season would cripple the offense badly.
They save 10.9M by cutting Zeke. It does not matter which year is impacted. They don't manage the cap on a 1-year basis.
- It will be the 1st time since the big contract that his salary is not guaranteed.

Best Plan
Cut Zeke. Franchise Pollard. Draft a RB.

Don’t think you can put that money into one position.

draft or see what the young guys can do.

pollard can’t pass block so you can’t make him a featured back

I don't want to franchise him. However in an offense like Philly runs I would absolutely hate to face Pollard. I thought about this recently and I would rather have Pollard than Miles Sanders or McCaffrey.

Unfortunately he is likely to get taken by a team who values that explosiveness enough to drive the price up.

Nobody tags rbs... to easily replaced... zeke will restructure and the numbers will average out the same (sunk cost).

Its time to let Zeke go after this season. There are many backs that can handle his load without that hefty contract.

If I was the Cowboys I'd try to strike a deal now and get him for around 6 to 7 million a year. I would not franchise Pollard.

Running backs are easily replaceable.

Why would you want to restructure Zeke's contract? He is not a long term solution to the run game anymore. He is finished.

I doubt very seriously that Pollard will be franchised. The Cowboys would have to pay him over $12 million per which is what the top 5 RBs are making. They’re not going pay an RB that kind of money who’s going to continue to split carries. Pollard isn’t an every down back.
